Job summary

Airbus Defence and Space Limited in Stevenage is seeking a Satellite Technician (Electrical/Mechanical) to join our team. You will assemble, integrate and test cutting-edge satellite systems, applying advanced manufacturing techniques to ensure spacecraft are built to the highest quality before launch.

You will work hands-on across electrical and mechanical assembly, wiring and testing tasks, with opportunities for off-site testing and travel.

Qualifications

  • Experience in electrical and mechanical assembly and testing, ideally in aerospace or high‑reliability manufacturing.
  • Experience with practical production techniques including soldering, crimping, harness routing, bonding, torqueing, drilling and shimming.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical assembly, integration, and modification of systems, including harness routing, electrical connections, soldering, and crimping.
  • Execute mechanical assembly and integration tasks, utilising bonding techniques, torqueing, drilling, shimming, and unit installation.
  • Conduct basic electrical testing (continuity, bonding, insulation, DC HV) and install necessary test equipment.
  • Perform first-level quality inspections and identify opportunities for continuous improvement on the shop floor.
  • Work from technical instructions and test procedures to deliver completed, integrated assemblies with production documentation.
  • Provide support to off-site testing and launch site activities, including working at heights.

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Satellite Technician (Electrical/Mechanical) to join our team in Stevenage to assemble, integrate, and test cutting‑edge satellite systems.


Playing a hands‑on role in the production lifecycle, you will utilise a variety of advanced manufacturing techniques to ensure our spacecraft and related systems are built to the highest quality standards before launch.


HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM


  • Perform electrical assembly, integration, and modification of systems, including complex harness routing, electrical connections, soldering, and crimping.

  • Execute mechanical assembly and integration tasks, utilising bonding techniques, torqueing, drilling, shimming, and unit installation.

  • Conduct basic electrical testing (such as continuity, bonding, insulation, and DC high voltage) and install necessary test equipment.

  • Perform first-level quality inspections and proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement on the shop floor.

  • Work accurately from technical instructions, work orders, and test procedures to deliver completed, integrated assemblies with all associated production documentation.

  • Provide crucial support to off‑site testing and launch site activities, ensuring operational readiness in various environments (including working at heights).


ABOUT YOU


  • Experience of electrical and mechanical assembly, integration, and testing, ideally within an aerospace or high‑reliability manufacturing environment.

  • Experience of practical production techniques, including soldering, crimping, harness routing, bonding, torqueing, drilling, and shimming.

  • Experience of working meticulously from technical documentation, engineering drawings, and job cards to perform first-level quality inspections.

  • Comfortable working at heights and adaptable to travel for off-site testing and launch site support activities.
