Job description

As part of this degree apprenticeship, you will be studying towards achieving a Degree in Space Systems Engineering. Your activities will include the following:

  • Development of support solutions and inputs into bids, including written proposals, costs and scheduling;
  • Influencing design for support, working closely with design engineers as well as sales, finance and commercial functions;
  • Development of key skills that are increasingly rare yet increasingly vital within the industry, with a high level of exposure across all functions of the business;
  • Learning how to develop support solutions for equipment and complex systems, how to develop technical and complex proposals and plans, and how to perform the supporting analysis;
  • Understanding customer requirements and contracts, and applying technical expertise to influence these and other functions.

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of 104-112 UCAS points, made up of 3 A levels at BCC or above, including a STEM-based subject, and GCSEs with grade C/4 or above in Maths and English Language, or Functional Skills. You must also have a strong science/engineering-based background, supported by a strong written capability.

You will join a department within Airbus responsible for developing support for Satcom systems, including land and maritime systems. You will be involved in bidding activities, working with commercial, finance, project planning, and engineering functions, and understanding how support is developed, implemented, and delivered to customers after contract award.
