The Integrated Care System is seeking a middle-grade doctor in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to join their dynamic team at North Middlesex Hospital. This position includes on-call duties, specialist clinics, and opportunities for professional development in a supportive environment. Candidates should hold relevant qualifications such as MBBS and MRCOG, and possess experience in the field.
The posts will be in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the North Middlesex Hospital and the appointee will join the rota for ST5-7.
The new appointees will join a busy and supportive department with a strong commitment to high standards of patient care. There will scope in the job plan to undertake SITMs in advanced labour ward/ antenatal practice, Fetal Medicine or high risk pregnancy if you are eligible and support will be provided for completion of core training log book and application for CESR.
The North Middlesex Hospital is in a state of rapid change with a brand new "purpose-built" Accident and Emergency Department which houses a Gynaecology Emergency Room. We have an active Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit/ Emergency Gynaecology Unit, with two trained nurse ultrasonographers plus 3 Consultant sessions, two ultrasound machines with pulsed colour Doppler facilities, and daily beta-hCG assays.
The hospital has been designated as a Cancer Unit within the "North Central" London Oncology network.
There are modern, up-to-date facilities for minimal access gynaecological surgery including video cameras, laparoscopes, hystero-resectoscopes, Novasure endometrial ablation. The success of the service has led to increased demand for minimal access surgery from GPs and patients. There is two weekly out-patient hysteroscopy clinic.
There is at present one weekly gynaecological urodynamic session. Enfield and Haringey Health Authority employ a senior nurse incontinence advisor and there is an active incontinence support group with a senior physiotherapist.

The appointee will undertake general duties in Obstetrics and Gynaecology when on call. They will also have a weekly specialist clinic session including EPAU scanning, Fetal medicine scan, Colposcopy and hysteroscopy whenever the rota allows. There will be an Obstetrics and Gynaecology on-call (20.00pm-08.00am) with 2 tiers of registrars and a SHO. The successful candidates expected to cover weekends on approximately a 1:10 rota. They will be assigned either a day or a night shift for the weekend. There is a 98 hours per week consultant presence on the labour ward. Everyone will undergo both a hospital and a departmental induction prior to starting the job. There is a monthly Perinatal Meeting with the Paediatricians which has mandatory attendance. There is a Friday morning CTG meeting and Friday afternoon Calman teaching which is compulsory for all registrars to attend. There is a Departmental Audit meeting once a month.
