Job summary

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a full-time Breast Clinician to contribute to symptomatic and screening services across our breast imaging portfolio. Secondment requests are welcome and encouraged.

You will work across the NHS Breast Screening Programme within a service known for high clinical standards and patient-centered care, involving MDT participation and (depending on experience) ultrasound-guided procedures, with a remit to training and mentoring colleagues.

Qualifications

  • GMC registration with license to practice required.
  • Credential in breast disease management (NBIA/RCR) or within 3 months of completion.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in mammography and breast ultrasound with relevant clinical experience.
  • Evidence of continued professional development including CME.

Responsibilities

  • The symptomatic work includes one-stop clinics and further assessment of recalled patients.
  • Participation at MDT meetings.
  • Possible involvement in ultrasound guided VAE, depending on experience.
  • Training, mentoring and ongoing professional development of junior staff.

Job description

This full-time, fixed-term Breast Clinician role offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to both symptomatic and screening services within Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. Secondment requests are welcome.

You’ll work across the full breadth of breast imaging, including the NHS Breast Screening Programme, within a service known for high clinical standards and a strong commitment to patient care. The role suits professionals who bring expertise, positivity, and a patient-focused approach, and who want to be part of a forward-thinking Breast Cancer service.

Main duties of the job
  • The symptomatic breast work will involve one-stop clinics and further assessment of the recalled patient.
  • Participation at MDT meetings.
  • Depending on experience, the role may also involve ultrasound guided VAE
  • There would be an expectation that the successful candidate would become involved in training, guiding, mentoring and continued professional development of Specialist Registrars in Radiology, Advanced Practitioners and Consultant Radiographers.

Education/Training/Qualifications
Essential
  • Full registration with the GMC with a license to practice
  • Credential in breast disease management (NBIA,RCR) or within 3 months of completion
  • Postgraduate qualifications in mammography and breast ultrasound with relevant clinical experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development including CME
Work Experience
Essential
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of breast patients
  • Ability to independently undertake all aspects of symptomatic and NHSBSP breast work
  • Ability to work within the Trust and NHS performance framework
  • An understanding of the requirements of Clinical Governance and Audit
  • Knowledge & understanding of role of ethical committee
  • Experience in Audit projects
