Job summary

Aspion is recruiting a Buyer / Stock Controller for a Manchester-based manufacturing site. The role focuses on purchasing raw materials, stock control and supplier management to keep production supplied and processes running smoothly.

You will work with SAP, manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, and support forecasting and planning across production, logistics, finance and maintenance teams. A proactive, detail-oriented communicator will fit well.

Qualifications

• Three years purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.
• SAP experience is a huge advantage.
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Experience managing stock and purchasing a range of production materials.
• Excellent organisation, attention to detail and spreadsheet skills.
• Confident communication across departments and across teams.
• Practical problem-solving approach with ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Purchasing raw materials including oils, chemicals, powders, cardboard, steel and plastic packaging.
• Negotiating supplier pricing, lead times and terms to secure value and reliable supply.
• Using SAP to manage purchasing information, stock levels, pricing and supplier records.
• Monitoring stock requirements and supporting forecasting to meet production demand.
• Building relationships with existing suppliers and identifying alternative sources.
• Coordinating supplier deliveries with site teams to keep arrivals organised.
• Maintaining purchasing documentation, material data sheets and reports.
• Monitoring market trends and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Supporting wider purchasing needs across production, maintenance and office functions.
• Attending supplier meetings, audits and industry events as required.
