BBC Technology Group is seeking an experienced Principal SAP (S/4) Systems Engineer to lead SAP S/4HANA implementations and ongoing support within Finance and related modules. The role is based in London with 2 days in the office, offering a permanent full-time contract and a salary in the £70k–£80k range.

You will influence strategy, manage complex technical changes, and work with external partners to maximise value for BBC and its partners. Flexible working will be discussed at offer stage.

Qualifications

• Significant SAP functional experience in SD plus one other FI/CO, MM or PS module; S/4HANA hands-on with implementation or migration.
• Finance SAP -S/4 expertise and knowledge of best-practice configurations aligned with business processes.
• Experience integrating SAP with third‑party applications (SD, MM, FI‑CO, PS, Intercompany, Tax, E‑invoicing) and SAP-BTP.
• Ability to engage with stakeholders and translate requirements into technical solutions.

Responsabilités

• Contribute to a technical roadmap for systems and services within scope.
• Lead small/medium technical changes; document, build, test, deploy, and provide post go-live support.
• Support larger projects with technical change elements and coordinate with PMs and stakeholders.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote best practices and achievable goals.
• Collaborate with outsourced partners to resolve incidents at varied severity levels.
• Coach colleagues and share best practices across modules.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact

• Contribute to a technical roadmap for systems and services within their scope
• Responsible and accountable for Small/Medium technical changes, clarifying requirements submitted by BBC Business Users and managing a change process followed by an outsourced technology provider, including Documentation creation / Review, Technical Build, Testing Cycles, Production Deployment and Post Go-Live support
• Acting as a trusted team member for larger projects with technical change elements, working closely with Project Management and Project Stakeholders to deliver timely, high-quality outcomes
• Building relationships with Internal and External stakeholders, offering support and influence focused on best practice, achievable goals
• Working with Outsourced Technology partners and Internal Stakeholders to support the resolution of Incidents at varied severity levels
• Coach colleagues and share good practice across modules

Essential Criteria

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Significant SAP functional experience, with in depth expertise in SAP SD plus one other FI/CO, MM or PS modules. Hands‑on S/4HANA experience, including at least one full implementation or migration lifecycle and ongoing support
• Extensive experience and system specialist for Finance modules of SAP -S/4 and other Finance related systems, including understanding how best‑practice configurations align with business processes and providing guidance to a wide range of technical and functional stakeholders, including expertise in translating project, user and product requirements into technical solutions
• Experience with the following software: SAP Finance and Controlling, SAP S/4, detailed SAP integration knowledge with SD, MM, FI‑CO, PS, Intercompany, Tax, Financial Statement processes, E‑invoicing and integration (SAP‑BTP).
• Experience reviewing Technical and Functional Documentation, identifying and revising based on SAP best practice, quality, clarity and completeness. Experience integrating SAP with third‑party applications
• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at various levels, translating and imparting technical concepts into audience relevant information, including leading on requirements gathering with the business process owners and presenting solution options that align with BBC Engineering Strategies. Dealing with multiple priorities, managing conflict and using influencing skills to ensure that projects/assignments are properly commissioned and delivered into the business

• Experience with the following software: SAP S/4 Hana (FI/CO, SD, MM, PS), Treasury, SAP Fiori, Concur, SAP Signavio, SAP Joule, SAP Walkme, Workiva, One Source, Kyriba, Taxually, Blackline, BTP (CPI, APIM, E‑invoicing)
• Understanding of media specific processes relating to an organisation’s financial operation e.g. Production Accounting, Content Distribution, Media supply chain, Broadcasting or rights driven business. Familiarity with rights, royalties or content‑cost processes
• Understanding the necessity of security, access control and segregation of duties in system design
• Ability to write and communicate complex technology solutions in a clear and coherent way
