Job description
Role Overview

Advance TRS is working with a leading ICP/DNO partner to appoint a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) Electrical Engineer. The role involves overseeing HV and LV operations across projects in the Midlands and Yorkshire regions, ensuring safe switching, energisation, and compliance with industry standards.

The successful candidate will hold SAP authorisations with a DNO/ICP and be confident in managing safe systems of work, issuing permits, and leading HV/LV operations from design through energisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as Senior Authorised Person for HV and LV works (up to 11kV / 33kV).
  • Carry out safe switching operations, isolations, and energisations.
  • Issue and receive permits and sanctions in line with DNO/ICP rules.
  • Prepare, review, and approve switching schedules, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with ENA TS, ESQCR, G81 standards, and DNO safety rules.
  • Oversee energisation of contestable connections for ICP adoption.
  • Liaise with DNOs, IDNOs, and ICPs, ensuring works meet adoption standards.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and site staff.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to high technical quality.
Key Requirements
  • Current SAP authorisation at 11kV / 33kV (132kV desirable).
  • Experience working with ICPs and DNOs in contestable works.
  • Strong knowledge of G81, ESQCR, ENA standards, and DNO safety rules.
  • Demonstrable experience in safe switching, isolation, and energisation.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring ability.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
  • Multiple DNO authorisations (UK Power Networks, WPD, Northern Powergrid, etc.).
  • Transmission-level SAP experience (National Grid, 132kV+).
  • Experience supporting HV/LV network design and project delivery.
  • IEng/CEng status or working towards.
