Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is seeking an experienced SAP Technical Architect to drive the architecture for SAP S/4HANA, ECC, and SAP BTP landscapes across London/Manchester. You will define, design, and govern end-to-end SAP architectures to enable secure, cloud-aligned transformation and AI-enabled growth.

You will lead integration patterns, ensure compliance, and collaborate with business and IT leaders to minimize customisations while accelerating delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience designing and governing SAP S/4HANA and ECC architectures.
• Deep understanding of SAP landscape design across DEV/QAS/PRD/DR.
• In-depth knowledge of SAP Basis, sizing, performance, HA/DR.
• Experience with SAP HANA architecture, backups, security.
• Expertise in SAP integration technologies (CPI, PI/PO, APIs).
• Ability to design end-to-end integration patterns across SAP and non-SAP systems.
• Knowledge of SAP on Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Security architecture, roles, SSO, encryption, compliance.
• Leadership in SAP technical tracks during large implementations.
• Familiarity with TOGAF, Zachman, or SAP EA frameworks.
• Experience with SAP BTP services (Workflow, Rules, Event Mesh, API Management).
• DevOps/CI-CD practices (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Experience with SAP BW/4HANA or SAC, cloud analytics.
• APIs, micro-APIs, API governance.
• Industry experience in retail, manufacturing, FMCG, pharma, or supply chain.

The Role

As an experienced SAP Technical Architect, you will support the organization’s business transformation journey to transition into a secure, modern, cloud-aligned SAP S/4HANA platform. The objective is to enable continuous transformation, operational agility, and AI-driven growth.

The role is aligned with a decoupling strategy focused on establishing a clean core architecture, ensuring that the SAP S/4HANA system leverages standard SAP capabilities across key business domains, while minimizing customizations and technical debt.

Overall, the role is pivotal in maintaining environment integrity, minimizing risks, and accelerating delivery timelines while aligning with enterprise governance, compliance standards, and the broader goal of building a future-ready, AI-enabled SAP platform.

Key responsibilities:

The SAP Technical Architect is responsible for defining, designing, and governing the overall technical architecture of SAP landscapes across SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP BTP, SAP PI/PO, SAP Fiori/UI5, and integrated enterprise systems. This role ensures high‑performance, scalable, secure, and future‑ready SAP solutions that align with business strategy and IT roadmaps. The architect collaborates closely with business leaders, solution architects, Basis, development teams, and integration teams to deliver robust and compliant SAP technical platforms.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

• Strong hands‑on experience designing and governing SAP S/4HANA and SAP ECC technical architectures.
• Deep understanding of SAP system landscape design, including DEV/QAS/PRD/DR environments.
• In‑depth knowledge of SAP Basis, system sizing, performance tuning, high‑availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) configurations.
• Strong experience with SAP HANA database architecture, optimization, backup/restore strategies, and security.
• Expertise in SAP integration technologies:
• SAP BTP Integration Suite (CPI)
• SAP PI/PO
• APIs (REST, SOAP, OData)
• Ability to design end‑to‑end integration patterns across SAP and non‑SAP systems (CRM, eCommerce, SCM, WMS, POS, Finance apps).
• Ability to enforce coding standards, reusable component frameworks, and conduct technical reviews.
• Working knowledge of SAP on Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Strong understanding of SAP security architecture, roles/authorization, SSO, encryption, and compliance requirements.
• Proven experience leading SAP technical tracks in large implementations, migrations, or S/4HANA transformations.
• Experience conducting technical impact assessments, solution reviews, and performance troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with TOGAF, Zachman, or SAP’s Enterprise Architecture Framework.
• Experience with SAP BTP advanced services (Workflow, Business Rules, Event Mesh, API Management).
• Knowledge of DevOps / CI‑CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Knowledge of SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), or cloud-native analytics solutions.
• Experience with API-led integration, micro-APIs, and API governance.
• Experience in complex enterprise environments such as retail, manufacturing, FMCG, pharma, or supply chain-heavy industries.
• Hands‑on exposure to Fiori Elements & custom UI5 apps and Side‑by‑side extensions on SAP BTP
• Experience leading architecture review boards (ARB) or governance forums.
• Capability to mentor technical teams and guide large multi‑vendor delivery environments.
• Ability to influence C‑level stakeholders with well‑structured architecture recommendations
