Job Description:

We are looking for a Sampling Field Operations Manager to join Thames Water on a permanent basis. You will be managing a diverse team of Water Quality technicians in the clean water business, ensuring health & safety obligations are met, monitoring team performance, and delivering sampling services to operations and stakeholders.

  • Manage remotely based field and office staff, overseeing H&S, performance, training, and development.
  • Deliver Thames Water’s sampling programmes, meeting quantity and quality targets.
  • Fulfils the role of Technical Manager for the Water Quality Management System.
  • Author Quality Manual and Sampling Procedures Manual.
  • Manage daily technical activities and ensure compliance with DWI/UKAS standards.
  • Operate calibration and QC regimes.
  • Train and test competence of new personnel.
  • Manage audit programmes and record retention.
  • Participate in Quality Management System reviews.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure service levels.
  • Review budgets, identify risks, and seek opportunities.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Knowledge of clean water network processes beneficial.
  • Experience with QMS, preferably ISO17025.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and legislation.
  • Knowledge of WQ sampling programmes.
  • IT literacy, including Sample Manager.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and H&S requirements.
  • Full UK driving license.

  • Salary up to £46,565 per annum, depending on experience.
