Job Title: Sample Sewing Machinist and Pattern Designer

Location:Harlow, Essex
Job Type:Part-Time

Funk Motorsport are the industry leading manufacturer and retailer of heat protection and insulation tailored for the motorsport/automotive industries. Our fast growth has ensured a consistent flow of new projects from our portfolio of high profile clients.

Operating out of our Harlow facility, we undergo development, production and shipping to the end user. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our production and development team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working alone to tailor bespoke products that are both aesthetically pleasing whilst using the construction methods we are known for.
• Design and manufacture bespoke insulation covers for pipework, turbochargers, industrial components and other complex shapes.
• Catalogue + store your finished work + patterns for easy access/recreation in the future.
• Produce patterns using card to form 3D templates
• Comfortable working with heavy materials + specialist stainless steel threads
• Collaborate with the management team to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Collaborate closely with the team to clarify any ambiguities and ensure accurate interpretation of the design concept and outcomes.
• Sew and join fabric pieces with precision, paying attention to seam allowances, stitching techniques, and finishing details.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a sewing machinist, particularly with heavy-duty materials.
• Previous experience in creating tailored designs.
• Willingness to problem solve small mechanical issues with our Juki machines + other tooling
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high quality in repetitive tasks.
• Familiarity with Juki machines is desirable but not essential.
• Experience with thick or tough materials is advantageous.
