ABOUT YOU

As a Sample Preparation Technician, you will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for microbiology and food safety, seeking to work in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills and experience:

• Good IT literacy skills
• Good general standard of education in Science, English, and Maths
• Experience in a similar working environment within a UKAS accredited laboratory (beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided)
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Sample Preparation Technician, you will be involved in various laboratory activities, including using specific techniques, maintaining laboratory housekeeping, and ensuring samples are prepared on time.

Key activities:

• Using aseptic techniques, good laboratory practice, housekeeping, health and safety procedures
• Using the LIMS system for registering and receiving samples
• Maintaining and locating shelf-life, save, and repeat samples
• Organizing and keeping clean the sample receipt chillers and areas
• Disposing of samples at the end of their storage period
• Labeling samples accurately
• Liaising with customers
• Assisting with routine analysis following SOPs, including sample preparation, plate labeling, dilution, and plating of samples, and plate pouring
• Conducting daily quality control checks
