Overview

With headquarters in Leicester and a nationwide network of laboratories and offices, CTS (a Phenna Group Company) offers a wide range of Construction Materials Testing, Surveying and Monitoring services. We are seeking a new team member to join our Sample Preparation Department. The Sample Prep Team provides specially prepared MCERTS and UKAS accredited sub-portions of client samples prior to extraction and analysis. The team also identifies potential asbestos contamination and, once qualified, performs accredited asbestos identification and qualification analysis. The position is based in our Environmental Laboratories Division, at our Leicester City centre laboratory.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of soil, water and construction material samples ready for chemical analysis
  • Ensure all tasks are carried out to high standards of safety, quality and efficiency
  • Follow all procedural requirements as set out by the ISO17025 Quality Management System
  • Ensure adequate and proper records are kept and filed correctly
  • Ensure equipment is checked, cleaned, calibrated and suitable for use
  • Training to become a P401 Qualified Asbestos Analyst
Qualifications and Skills
  • Good oral, written and numeracy skills
  • GCSE grade C / 5 or above in maths and science
  • Computer literate
  • Previous laboratory experience would be advantageous
Your Journey with CTS

In your first six months you will develop basic lab skills and become proficient in a range of method techniques. On successful completion of a 6-month probationary period, you will progress to Level 2. At Level 2, your skills and knowledge will grow further and asbestos analysis training will begin. Within around 12–18 months, you can progress to Level 3, which includes sitting a P401 Qualification Examination. From Level 3, progression steps are matched with pay rises. The speed of progression depends on your effort and performance.

  • 40 hour working week (5 consecutive days out of seven, including weekend work)
