Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Sample Handling Assistant to join our shipping and logistics team within our Sample Management department in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Work schedule: 37h/week, Monday – Friday, 8:45am – 5pm. You will perform sample management tasks, labeling, receipt, tracking, and storage while using tracking systems and supporting process improvements in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant national level education equivalent to High School Diploma, GCSE or similar.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment or warehouse role is advantageous.
• Ability to learn new systems and adapt to new processes.

Responsibilities

• Performing sample management and archive tasks including labeling, receipt, transfer, tracking, inventory, archival, shipping and disposal of samples and materials.
• Sample accession tasks including box opening, inventory/labeling, receipt/store, and pulls/returns.
• Using tracking systems and communicating with internal/external customers.
• Supporting process improvement initiatives and working effectively in a team.
• Maintaining storage units and knowledge of applicable regulations and SOPs.

Job Responsibilities

• Performing any combination of sample management and/or archive tasks, including labeling, receipt, transferring, tracking, inventory, archival, shipping, and disposal of samples and/or materials
• Sample accession core tasks, including box opening, inventory/labeling, receipt/store, and pulls/returns
• Using tracking systems as appropriate and communicating effectively with internal and external customers
• Supporting process improvement initiatives and working well in a team
• Competent with environmental system monitor as appropriate
• Maintaining storage units
• Maintaining a working knowledge of appropriate regulations and company/department Standard Operating Procedures

Minimum Qualifications

• Relevant national level of education in comparison to High School Diploma, GCSE or equivalent

Additional Job Standards

• Competent ability to use several software packages i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook
• Experience working in a fast pace environment and/ or in a warehouse operative role is advantageous.
• Ability to learn new systems
• Physical requirements include, but not are limited to, standing, bending, reaching and some lifting
• Will work with -20ºC, -70ºC freezers and refrigerated samples
