Job Description:

Action Express is a courier service in Milton Keynes with more than 20 years experience offering express delivery. We are a delivery company working in partnership with APC Overnight and the Pallet Track network to deliver parcels and pallets throughout the UK. Our courier service extends throughout the local area to each end of the country.

We are looking for a dynamic Transport Planner to join our expanding business. As the planner you will be primarily responsible for effectively quoting, taking bookings and planning all our sameday and general haulage work in the most effective and economical way.

Responsibilities

  • Speaking to and emailing customers to discuss, quote and book work
  • Ensure that work is planned in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
  • Ensure that drivers are given clear instructions regarding their duties.
  • Ensure vehicles are loaded within safe loading limits by axel and overall weight as required.
  • Checking and authorising sub-contractor costs booked through your department
  • Speaking to and liaising with drivers so they know what jobs that are booked for
  • Checking any customer paperwork and PODS for customers

Be prepared to roll your sleeves up and get involved in key problems as required. This job description is not exhaustive. You should be aware that you may be required to perform duties other than those for which you are primarily employed as directed by your Line Manager.

Skills
