About The Job
Located in the Cardiff office, the Salesforce Engineering Manager will lead the development and delivery of critical IT projects for the Schools Office. This role involves managing both internal and external teams to ensure optimal delivery of services that meet business needs. The IT applications developed are used by stakeholders worldwide.
The role includes overseeing the performance, planning, and delivery of team activities, coordinating closely with internal stakeholders, and adhering to procedures and guidelines. Utilizing Agile methodologies, the manager will handle workstreams and deliver IT solutions, coordinating across globally distributed teams to achieve project goals. They will be responsible for tracking and reporting all aspects of IT deliverables, including those dependent on third-party suppliers.
Additionally, the manager will ensure appropriate support plans are in place, including Operations and Vendor Management,and act as the primary contact for business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for the management of software development by managing, planning, coordinating and tracking all IT delivery of change requests, projects, and work streams within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Management of software development teams (both internal and external), including line management and involvement of scrum ceremonies, to ensure quality software is delivered to time and budget.
- Co-coordinate with product managers, business stakeholders and IT support teams to ensure operational readiness for transitioning projects to business as usual. This may include retaining management of some support activities within an existing DevOps team.
- Preparation and coordination of release activities, including risk management, communications and process improvements.
- Investigate, assess, and/or select existing and new suppliers by using the agreed requirement s and internal/procurement guidelines, including the monitoring of SLAs.
About You
- Extensive experience in Salesforce Development, Implementation and Configuration
- Have at least Salesforce Developer Level-1 certification (level-2 is highly preferred)
- Experience managing software development teams.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Experience with DevOps tools like Copado or Flosum is required
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Highly organized and a good multi-tasker
- Effective communication skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing external service providers.
- Experience in managing globally distributed teams.
- Experience and understanding of software management tools such as Azure

Please note that in September 2025 our Cardiff Office will relocate to Fusion Point One, Dumballs Road, Cardiff, CF10 5BF. The building is a 5-minute walk from Cardiff Central Station and a 10-minute walk to the city centre. Our new offices will have 60 parking spaces available which will be reservable online.
