Job description

Salesforce Delivery Architect – Insurtech

London/Hybrid - Minimum 2 Days in office

Salary Range: £80-95,000 depending on level and experience plus bonus and benefits

Azur Technology is at the forefront of digitising the insurance sector, working with some of the biggest names in the business to bring innovative and exciting products to market. We’re a product company, not a consultancy. We build MGA Connect, our insurance platform on Salesforce, and we build client products on top of it as an embedded team – so the work compounds into the product instead of ending with the engagement.

We’re currently 90+ people strong and we have clear plans to scale the business. We play in the Salesforce stack. We configure where we can, the platform is built to be configured, not rebuilt and where we genuinely need to build, it’s Lightning Web Components and Apex against our own patterns. Whatever we do, we want to do it better.

We are now looking for a Delivery Architect to help us significantly reduce time to market of the insurance products we build. The mechanism is specific: you own the design, you direct a build that is largely skill and agent executed, and you capture what you decide back into our build skills so the whole team gets faster on the next product. You’ll do that across two to three concurrent client products, with the client in the room throughout.

What's important to us:
  • Configuration beats code. MGA Connect is built to be configured, bespoke Apex is a last resort, and anything we do build should leave Managed Services able to change a value without a release
  • We’re serious about time to market but we are also building for the future
  • We strongly believe in the value of good design. We believe it is a primary differentiator in an increasingly crowded insurance marketplace
  • We strongly believe in the value of data in insurance
You’re a fit for our team if:
  • You have an obsession about disruptive technologies and have done something real with at least one
  • You have an inkling that insurance is technologically underserved market and are on a mission to make a big impact here
  • You have strong, well-informed opinions but are open to being convinced otherwise through thoughtful discussion and debates with your teammates.
  • You're scrappy and ready to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to discover your customer problems and deliver.
  • You can’t leave a thing alone until you understand how it works
  • You have strong interpersonal communication skills. You should be able to communicate, educate and get along with the team.
  • You’re excited about the prospect of working with different products and people
  • Your first instinct on a new requirement is "can we configure this?", not "how would I code this?" and you can hold that line with a client who has arrived with a bespoke solution already in mind.
  • You’re at ease in front of clients. You can hold a technical conversation with underwriters, brokers and a client’s own architects, explain a trade-off without jargon, and take challenge without getting defensive.
  • You do your best work at pace. Two or three products running at once energises you rather than overwhelms you, and you know how to protect quality when the tempo is high.
  • You’ve actually used AI to build software. Claude Code and its peers have only been in real use since 2025, so we’re not looking for years of it, we want to hear what you’ve built with them, where they saved you time, and where you decided not to trust them.
  • You’d rather write the thing that makes ten builds faster than hand-build one of them.
Responsibilities:

As a Delivery Architect you own the solution for a domain of MGA Connect products, working with our Product Delivery Managers and client teams to take digital insurance products from design into production.

You will build on MGA Connect and our product build framework – the template, the standard patterns, and the build skills that let Claude Code and our sub-agents carry the bulk of the execution. Designs are challenged and agreed at our design committee, and what is decided there feeds straight back into the skills.

The main responsibilities of the role are outlined below:

  • Own the end-to-end solution for your products – data model, journey, integrations and non-functionals and be accountable for it holding up in production.
  • Reach for configuration first. MGA Connect is built to be configured: use the product configurator, product extensions, feature toggles and declarative automation before you write anything bespoke. Treat custom Apex as a last resort you can justify.
  • Build so that Managed Services can change a value, a rate, a rule or a piece of wording without a release. Design for the people who run the product after you have moved on.
  • Document low level detailed designs on the ticket, at the level of precision an agent-executed build actually needs.
  • Direct the build rather than hand-write it. Break the design into work our build skills and sub-agents can execute, set the acceptance criteria, and steer the output to something you would sign your name to.
  • Hold the review gates – plan, schema, code, pre-deploy as the human judgement in a largely automated pipeline. Reviewing generated work properly is the job; the volume of code you personally typed is not.
  • Capture what you decide back into the build skills, patterns and templates, so the next product starts further forward. This is your real leverage, and it is the mechanism behind our time to market promise.
  • Keep a hard focus on re-usability across a client’s products, and on what should be promoted out of a client build into the core platform.
  • Own the quality bar and release readiness for your products, code quality, security practices, test coverage and the standards our skills encode.
  • Be the technical authority in the room with the client. Lead refinement and design calls, present options, explain trade-offs and cost in plain language, and handle challenge with confidence.
  • Work with our Product Delivery Managers (PDMs) and the client to find the simpler solution, and to steer requirements towards what the platform already does well.
  • Build the kind of trust that means a client brings you the problem early, rather than arriving with a solution already decided.
  • Provide high level estimates and shape to feed the plan and roadmap and be straight with the PDM early when something is at risk.
  • Own the technical delivery of two to three concurrent client products, prioritising your attention across them and keeping a clear view of what is at risk where.
  • Work at the tempo of a high pace delivery team, short cycles, moving priorities and frequent releases raising risk early rather than late.
  • Mentor engineers on design thinking, configuration-first instincts and how to get genuinely good work out of AI tooling and answer the hard technical questions that come to you from across engineering.
Required: Key Skills and Experience
  • Proven architect or senior technical lead experience owning end-to-end solutions on Salesforce, working with both on and offshore teams.
  • Hands on Salesforce development experience, ideally 5+ years, with real depth in Apex and Lightning Web Components.
  • A demonstrable bias to configuration over bespoke build and examples where you talked a client, or your own team, out of custom code.
  • Strong judgement about exactly where the line between configuration and code should sit, and the confidence to defend it.
  • Experience designing for maintainability, so that a support or managed service team can operate and change the product without engineering involvement.
  • Deep understanding of Salesforce configuration and declarative automation, including where Flows are the right answer and where they are not.
  • Strong experience with Salesforce APIs and integrations (REST/SOAP).
  • Experience working with Salesforce coding conventions and standards, DevOps practices and CI/CD.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Financial Services Cloud highly advantageous.
  • Insurance industry experience highly advantageous – MGA, London Market or personal lines especially.
  • Full cycle Salesforce implementation experience.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Substantial experience working directly with external clients, including senior and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Confident and credible in client facing settings, running technical calls, presenting designs and options, and acting as the client’s go-to technical contact.
  • Experience delivering in a high pace environment, owning or contributing to more than one project at the same time, and comfortable switching context without losing the detail.
  • Experience working in agile project methodologies.
  • Ability to lead by example and to mentor and develop other team members.
  • Strong professional communication skills, written and oral.
  • Practical, hands on experience using AI coding assistants as part of day to day delivery. These tools have only been in real world use since 2025, so recent, genuine use matters far more to us than years on a CV. We'll want to hear what you’ve built with them, where they saved you time, and where you decided not to trust them.
  • An informed view on where AI assisted development does and doesn’t belong in client delivery – code review, testing, IP and data privacy is highly advantageous.
  • Experience creating the reusable asset rather than the one-off. a skill, a pattern, a template or internal tooling that measurably made a team faster is a strong signal for this role.

It goes without saying that you’ll be a part of a fun, friendly atmosphere, with plenty of opportunities to grow personally and professionally.

You’ll get a competitive salary, bonus, generous PTO, and a relaxed, flexible, and hybrid work environment, and a growing benefits package (depending on your location of hire).

We firmly believe in empowerment, career progression, and trusting our colleagues.
