A leading energy trading company is seeking a Sales Trader to join their growing team in London. This role will be pivotal in representing the business to clients, executing trades, and building lasting relationships in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates will have a degree and previous experience in sales trading or a similar role, alongside a strong understanding of the UK energy markets.
The Role
As a Sales Trader and part of the Trading Desk, your role will be at the forefront of representing the business and trading to clients, executing trades on behalf of clients and/or their representatives, whilst working closely with the wider trading team to ensure that the business objectives are met.
The role will look to build flow and momentum to increase client trading activity, effectively maximising margins, whilst ensuring client needs and expectations are managed.
You will liaise directly with clients and third-party intermediaries and the internal sales teams regarding energy supply, trading and supporting services.
There will be a focus on accurately and consistently communicating market activity, trends, and insights to relevant parties as well as building and maintaining both internal and external relationships.
You will be comfortable pricing and managing client flow and resulting transactions.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Sales Trading and Origination Manager, the key responsibilities and duties will include:
o Execute trades on behalf of flexible clients, direct and via TPI channels, in both UK Gas and Power.
o Market make and execute trades on behalf of Route to Market clients
o Monitor market activity and provide real-time execution support to clients
o Develop and maintain strong long-term relationships with clients and other market participants
o Booking of client trades in ETRMs
o Collaborate with trading and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of trades, front to back
o Work alongside the sales team to provide market insight and high-level pricing detail
o Keep abreast of wider market developments
o Communicate and publish insights on wholesale markets and relevant industry changes
o Communicate and manage analytics and written reports for clients
o Help develop and manage a client focused RM service
o Contribute to analysis for both the Trading Desk and key accounts, being the voice of the client on the Trading Desk
o Contribute to the ongoing improvements in trading processes and system infrastructure
o Build and manage effective relationships with internal stakeholders both within the Trading Desk and the wider business
o Assisting in the training and development of colleagues
About You
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
o Degree level educated
o Previous experience working in a Sales Trading role or similar
o Strong knowledge of UK Gas and Power markets preferred though also from other physical commodity markets
o Highly numerate
o Solid understanding of wider commodities markets and cross commodity drivers
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Ability to form well founded ideas and communicate them to the team and clients
o A strong attention to detail
o Commercial awareness
o Market fundamentals knowledge
o Self-starter approach with a pro-active nature
