REPORTS TO: General Manager/Head of Sales

Featuring two scenic courses, a floodlit driving range and a busy clubhouse, we are proud to offer one of the most complete golfing experiences in the region. ROLE OVERVIEW:

As the Sales Manager, you will have the ultimate responsibility for the club’s membership, function, and golf sales performance. Your mission will be to maximise revenue through a dynamic partnership with the Golf Marketing team, ensuring that every potential customer group is engaged with compelling and effective communication.

You will lead and inspire a team of dedicated sales professionals, nurturing their talents and fostering a culture of excellence. Your leadership will be pivotal in safeguarding the long-term success of Ramsdale Park, ensuring our facilities and services are celebrated for their quality and value.

MEASURMENT OF SUCCESS:

The Sales Manager will be measured against key criteria:

  • Revenue and/or unit sales individually, of team, and collectively.
  • General Manager reviews, Head of Sales feedback, personal objectives
  • Repeat business where applicable
  • Effective placement of business
  • Compliance with company processes and procedures
  • Communication with all parties involved with sales activity including operational team, colleagues and client.
  • Audit, mystery shop and spot-check compliance.
  • Development, continual improvement and sustained motivation of sales executives
  • Performance management of and communication to sales executives including regular documented team meetings and 121’s inclusive of clear SMART objectives.
  • Ongoing transparent communication of performance and pro-active plans to address or enhance trends/pace as necessary

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communication

  • Maintain strong communication lines with the General Manager and Head of Sales regarding club sales performance and available resources.
  • Respond to customer enquiries through all approved channels, providing accurate cost quotations and driving yield/minimum spends.
  • Compliance to terms and conditions of sales contracts.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders for handover of functions and events.
  • Fully understand and communicate clients' and prospects' needs.
  • Implement relevant communication with the Sales team to improve their daily objective-based focus including daily set-up meetings, progress updates and on-the-spot coaching.
  • Maintain communication and plan timely, effective activities with the Marketing team.
  • Effectively resource the sales department as directed by the GM/Head of Sales.
  • Carry out effective Business Development to create new business opportunities within the Corporate/Charity/Group Golf and Functions (weddings, life celebrations, corporate meetings, seasonal events, etc.) space.

People

  • Ensure all sales team members perform optimally, recognising and rewarding high performance, and managing underperformance.
  • Ensure regular, relevant, and timely communication across teams for full understanding and transparency of company objectives and performance.
  • Take an active role in recruiting and consistently inducting all sales team members, ensuring their welfare and development.
  • Ensure recruitment is completed ethically and legally, with comprehensive notetaking during interviews and compliance with Right to Live & Work laws.
  • Ensure direct reports receive monthly one-on-ones, complete their Timeline and Employee Feedback Forms as required, and receive performance support.
  • Ensure personal and team compliance with the BGL Academy at all times.
  • Maintain a strong network with all Group Sales Managers to support robust collaboration.
  • Guide and facilitate sales and marketing planning.
  • Ensure the club has live sales and marketing plans for membership, functions, and group golf disciplines.
  • Ensure pricing is compliant and supportive of effective yield and required margins.
  • Ensure terms and conditions, and the payment terms within them are complied with.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance throughout the department.

Sales Measurement

  • Achieve/exceed targets for Membership, Group Golf and Functions lines, by month, and ultimately across the calendar year.
  • Publish and maintain individual sales executive and team performance against targets.
  • Maintain knowledge of local competitors.
  • Coach, mentor and train team and comply personally with the group's sales-focused mystery shopper programme.
  • Achieve revenue and income targets and KPIs for membership, functions, and group golf.
  • Assist the Head of Sales and GM with preparing and implementing business plans, financial budgets, and marketing plans.
  • Establish, monitor, and analyse sales budgets, taking prompt corrective action to address variances.
  • Ensure all BGL procedures and policies are adhered to.

Marketing

  • Liaise with the Marketing team to develop a coordinated sales and marketing strategy that links to sales strategy and focuses outline by the Head of Sales.
  • Ensure all promotional activity is properly structured, timely, communicated, and complies with BGL marketing guidelines.
  • Ensure the sales sections of the website are maintained and up to date.

Customer Experience

  • Ensure all members of the sales team consistently deliver outstanding service levels to achieve maximum customer satisfaction.

KEY EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Sales Manager in a faced paced environment is essential
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing sales and marketing strategies to drive business growth and achieve revenue targets is essential.
  • Hospitality and Leisure sector experience is desirable.
  • Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and managing teams to enhance performance and achieve organisational goals.
  • Experienced in people management, setting SMART objectives, and driving productivity.
