About The Role

At Shopify, our growing sales teams collaborate directly with notable brands and entrepreneurs to develop and enhance their commerce strategies through initiating their e-commerce business or brick-and-mortar operations.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Sales Manager to join our Mid Market Acquisition team. This is a key leadership role for someone who thrives on coaching, driving performance, and building scalable strategies that accelerate growth. You’ll be accountable for pipeline generation, territory planning, forecasting, and cultivating a strong, inclusive, and ambitious team culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive revenue growth by achieving and exceeding sales targets through effective team leadership and strategic planning.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a team of high-performing Account Executives, fostering an environment of success and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members to strategise and close high-value deals, engaging with key decision-makers up to the C-suite level.
  • Work alongside other department leads to enhance product offerings and optimize market penetration, aligning with overall business goals.
  • Utilise analytics and CRM tools to manage sales forecasts, pipeline activities, and territory planning, ensuring strategic and accurate use of data.
  • Lead by example, focusing on results, holding team members accountable to metrics and quotas while maintaining high team morale and performance.
  • Work closely with your team to build a robust pipeline through outbound efforts, events, and strategic initiatives
  • Guide the team in developing data driven, actionable territory plans to effectively penetrate key verticals and geographies
  • Own and manage the regional sales forecast, providing accurate and timely updates while ensuring accountability and transparency
  • Foster a culture of high performance, curiosity, continuous learning, and collaboration
  • Identify opportunities to improve the sales process, drive efficiency, and increase merchant and partner engagement

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Sales management experience with a proven track record of leading teams to exceed sales targets.
  • Direct sales experience in an ecommerce environment, skilled in managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on results, accountability, and team motivation.
  • Organised and disciplined in managing priorities, resources, and your time
  • Proficiency in key sales tools (e.g., Salesforce, Gong, Salesloft, LinkedIn) and a customer-centric, consultative sales approach.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise responsibilities, and adapt to change.
  • Naturally curious, you ask questions before making assumptions and dig deep to understand root causes and opportunities
  • A hands-on coach and mentor, able to develop individual team members through thoughtful feedback and skill-building
  • A strategic thinker who can balance short-term wins with long-term growth
  • Comfortable with change and ambiguity, and able to lead others through it
  • Obsessed with raising the bar, you set and uphold high standards for yourself and your team

Craft @ Shopify

Craft has always been the heart of Shopify. We're a company, founded by crafters, focused on a mission to make commerce better for everyone. This is why we want careers at Shopify to reflect the incredible journey of getting better at your craft and applying it to push our mission forward. Shopifolk generally follow one of two career track

The crafter track is designed for individual contributors, whose primary purpose is getting shit done. Crafters hone their skills and gain experience primarily through project contributions, but they may also act as player coaches to their peers or lead small, focused teams of peer crafters executing on specific areas of the business or product.

The manager track is designed for people leaders, the stewards of the organisation. The tool of a manager is their team, and this is how a manager makes the majority of their impact. They assemble, lead, and aim the team to ensure the team's crafters achieve Shopify's mission goals.

This role is part of our Manager Track.

Still interested? Great! To match you with your ideal role, we'll take the time to get to know you and the skills you bring to the table. If you're applying to a specific role, we'll respond within 10 business days. If we don't have an immediate opening, don't worry! We'll give you an update and keep you in mind for future roles. Just do us a favour and try not to submit more than one or two applications. Only submit additional applications if you really match the criteria for multiple roles.

About Shopify

Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we’ve grown to over 8,300 employees and generated over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries.

This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.

About You

Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.

Before you apply, consider if you can:

  • Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone
  • Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth
  • Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)
  • Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change
  • Bring critical thought and opinion
  • Use AI tools reflexively as part of your fundamental workflow
  • Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward
  • Work digital-first for your daily work
