Solutions Sales Engineer – Kinetic PowerPack (KPP)

Reports to:

Job Summary:

The role requires you to be tenacious, enthusiastic, and comfortable engaging with customers at all levels, adopting a “long-game” approach to sales and prospecting. A good understanding of electrical infrastructure in commercial buildings is essential. Responsibilities include:

  • Securing new business through design and sale of dynamic UPS (KPP) and power quality solutions to contractors, consulting engineers, and end-users.
  • Prospecting and sales activities, including preparing and presenting integrated power supply solutions and proposals.
  • Developing electrical and mechanical solutions with UK and factory support, including cost calculations, TCO analysis, and customer presentations.
  • Clarifying RFQs and legal terms and conditions.
  • Managing customer relationships and developing key accounts.
  • Negotiating profitable terms with customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promoting a safety culture by meeting HSQE requirements.
  • Achieving sales targets related to cash flow, profitability, and project budgets.
  • Maintaining CRM records and providing activity reports.
  • Prospecting new clients, creating leads, and managing existing accounts.
  • Supporting clients during the sales process from conception to order completion.
  • Reviewing contractual and technical RFQ specifications.
  • Preparing financial and technical proposals with support from sales and engineering teams.
  • Presenting proposals and highlighting product advantages.
  • Participating in public tenders.
  • Creating forecasts and tracking prospects.
  • Marketing the KPP range and representing at industry events.
  • Traveling for meetings and presentations.

Person Profile:

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, with strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Self-motivated, deadline-oriented, and able to work independently or in teams. Qualifications or experience with mtu power generation products or similar, and understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings are required.

Travel within UK & Ireland is expected, with occasional overseas training in Belgium or Germany. The role involves office work and site visits, working closely with the wider Rolls-Royce Power Systems team.

Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office, with training provided for SAP, CEC, and MTU Business Portal.

Driving License & Passport: Full clean UK driving license and UK passport holder.

Language: Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Literacy and Numeracy: Capable of writing business letters and emails effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or industry experience.
  • Proven success in technical sales of UPS, generator sets, switchgear, or similar capital goods.
