Job description

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Do you love all things non-fiction and are excited about selling the very best authors to the UKs best customers?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sales Manager to join the Ebury Sales team on a 12 month fixed term contract (this could be considered as a secondment opportunity). We are looking for someone who can influence, lead and sell the best range of non-fiction in the market.

Ebury are the non-fiction specialists at Penguin Random House, leading the market in all aspects of popular non-fiction. So, if you're excited about the prospect of working with Yotam Ottolenghi or Nathan Antony, Fearne Cotton or Kirsty Gallagher, Greg James or Louise Thompson, Steven Bartlett or Caitlin Moran, or perhaps just our very own Charlie Mackesy then Ebury could be the place for you.

Key responsibilities:

In this role, reporting to the Sales Director, you will manage a team of three Key Account Managers, as well as working closely with colleagues across all of the different Hubs at Ebury. You'll use excellent communication and relationship skills to influence and guide our publishing strategy, finding opportunities to maximise and grow sales across the Ebury list.

  • Leadership of the key accounts team will form a crucial part of your role. You'll create an environment where your team members are supported and inspired to do their best work.
  • Working across all areas of the market, you will be confident co-ordinating sales strategy & retail partnerships for physical and online retailers - in print and digital formats.
  • You will contribute to and help lead a sales growth strategy that will help maintain Ebury's position as the market leading Non-Fiction Publisher in the UK.
  • You will have responsibility for helping Ebury's online growth continue, finding new ways to reach readers with Ebury's 4000 strong catalogue.
  • You will have significant responsibility within Ebury itself, providing an accurate and insightful view of the UK market to key stakeholders in the division

What you'll bring

Essential criteria:

  • You'll have a strong sales background, in ideally a publishing or media environment, with experience managing key accounts across large UK retailers.
  • You'll be commercially focused and analytically minded, showing that you can use data and insight from the market to influence sound business decisions.
  • Connecting with colleagues, customers and the team is central to the role, you'll adopt a collaborative approach, work closely with stakeholders to problem solve, be comfortable taking ownership and responsibility, and know when to delegate.
  • You'll use excellent communication and relationship skills to influence and guide our publishing strategy
  • Ebury is an exciting place to work, and we pride ourselves on having an open and inclusive culture where everyone's voice is important. We are looking for someone who can not only contribute to this environment but lead within it as well.

Application instructions

Please apply with your CV and cover letter outlining why you are the right candidate for the role by 11:59pm on Monday 5th May.

Please ensure you include a cover letter, as it is a crucial part of our assessment process. The cover letter offers an opportunity to show how your experience and interests align with the role requirements. Typically, we expect the cover letter to be no more than one or two pages in length.

Salary

£55,000 - £60,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
