Job Description:

Location : Hybrid role, involving both remote work and regular ship visits in Southampton (at least 2-3 times per week). UK Driver’s License and own transport are required. International travel approximately 4-6 times per year, for 1-2 weeks each time.

Who We Are: Tempest Travel Photography (TTP) is a pioneering cruise photography company servicing P&O Cruises and Cunard ships. We provide high-quality photography services to guests, capturing memorable moments on the world’s best cruise lines. As a rapidly growing company, we pride ourselves on delivering an outstanding guest experience, high-quality imagery, and sales growth onboard our fleet. Our Sales Manager will play a key role in ensuring we meet our sales potential, shaping young, multicultural teams, and maintaining high sales standards in a dynamic environment.

The Role : We are seeking an experienced, high-energy Sales Manager with a passion for training, motivating, and guiding our teams to achieve sales excellence. This is a senior role where you will lead and coach 11 onboard Photo Managers, providing them with the tools, support, and strategies they need to deliver excellent sales performance. Knowledge of cruise operations and/or photography is beneficial, but our primary focus is on finding someone with a proven background in multi-site retail sales management who understands how to drive performance.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead by example, setting standards for behaviour, attitude, and actions. Guide a team of 11 managers, acting as their first point of contact.
  • Sales Training & Support: Design and implement sales and engagement training programmes. Travel on ships up to six times per year to deliver in-person sales coaching, helping teams engage guests effectively and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Ship Visits in Southampton: Attend ship visits when berthed in Southampton to stay engaged with the team and assess support needs. Weekend visits may occur, with time back in lieu provided.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor sales data, analyze performance, and work with managers to develop strategies for improvement.
  • Sales Strategy Development: Collaborate with HQ marketing and Carnival UK to create and implement seasonal sales initiatives, ensuring offerings are aligned with guest expectations.
  • Marketing Collateral: Work with the marketing team to develop onboard sales and marketing materials that are visually engaging and impactful.
  • Flexible Hours: The role requires flexibility beyond standard hours, especially during travel. Ship visits are usually in the mornings on weekends, about once or twice a month in summer, scheduled around your availability. Time in lieu is provided.
  • Remote Management: When not traveling, provide remote guidance to Photo Managers through regular check-ins, reviews, and performance plans.

What We’re Looking For

  • Sales Leadership Experience: Proven background managing multi-site sales, ideally in retail or customer-facing environments, with experience designing and delivering training programs.
  • Energetic and Results-Driven: Ability to energize teams and meet sales targets in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Accountability: Autonomous, proactive work ethic.
  • Communication Skills: Confident, clear presenter capable of engaging internal and external stakeholders.
  • People Skills: Natural ability to engage guests and inspire multicultural teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and visualizing trends to inform strategies.
  • Adaptability: Able to identify challenges, propose solutions, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Development Focus: Passion for coaching others and seeing tangible results from efforts.

What We Offer in Return

  • Salary dependent on experience
  • 26 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Time back in lieu
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Fully equipped home-working setup
  • Auto-enrolment pension scheme
  • Life assurance scheme
  • Optional private health scheme
  • Flexible work schedule supporting productivity and well-being
  • Collaborative, growth-oriented team culture
  • Opportunity to shape sales approach with business goals
  • Recognition and rewards for high performance
  • International travel and opportunity to sail on cruise ships
