About the RoleWe’re hiring for a Sales Manager to lead and shape a brand-new department. This is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up—your vision, your strategy, your impact. You’ll lead both internal and external sales efforts, working closely with marketing, engineering, and leadership to drive growth in a highly technical and fast-evolving space.
This is a newly created role in a brand-new department. You’ll have the autonomy to shape the role and department as you see fit. The commission plan is still being developed, so your input will help shape how success is rewarded.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the internal sales team and external sales representatives to achieve quarterly and annual revenue targets.
  • Oversee inbound and warm leads generated through marketing, ensuring timely qualification and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop detailed technical proposals and compelling sales presentations.
  • Drive proactive outreach to potential customers across multiple channels (calls, email, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Build and maintain relationships with our global customer base.
  • Engage with prospects across sectors and geographies, understanding their challenges and communicating the value of our solutions.
  • Qualify leads and assess their suitability for our products or services.
  • Conduct meetings or demos with qualified prospects.
  • Maintain accurate records of leads and interactions in Salesforce.
  • Work closely with marketing to align lead-generation efforts.
  • Continuously update your knowledge of our products and industry trends.
  • Provide feedback to improve lead generation and qualification processes.
  • Assist in developing sales scripts and outreach strategies.
  • Contribute to the creation of sales collateral and materials.
  • Attend industry events or trade shows to network and identify potential leads.
  • Support the sales team in achieving revenue targets.
Required Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseEssential
  • 7+ years of experience in sales, customer management, or lead generation in a highly technical field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Degree (2:1 or above) in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related discipline.
  • Proficient in CRM systems (preferably Salesforce) and sales tools.
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Goal-oriented with a logical approach to problem-solving.
  • Highly organised with attention to detail.
  • Team player with a proactive mindset.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
  • Experience as a Sales Development Representative or similar, with a proven track record.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, industrial automation, or machine vision.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary
  • Company pension
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Company health insurance
  • Training budget
  • Free on-site parking
  • Company car or car allowance
