About the Position

As a member of the EMEA Sales team at Energy Exemplar, the focus of this role is to drive new business sales of our PLEXOS software and related solutions to power and gas trading organizations across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of sales expertise, energy market knowledge, and a deep understanding of how traders and energy companies utilize modelling and simulation platforms to make strategic decisions.

This is a unique opportunity to work with leading energy trading organizations, helping them unlock the full potential of Energy Exemplar's PLEXOS software suite and shaping the future of energy market simulation in the EMEA region.

This Role Has Two Primary Objectives

  • Drive new business revenue growth across the EMEA region: Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities for PLEXOS, PLEXOS Insights, and PLEXOS Playbook solutions, establishing Energy Exemplar as the leading provider of energy market simulation technology in the region.
  • Build and nurture strategic partnerships: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in trading organizations, utilities, and consulting firms to create a robust pipeline of opportunities and position Energy Exemplar as a trusted advisor in the energy simulation space.

Primary Responsibilities:

Business Development and Sales Execution

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities across the EMEA region, with a particular focus on power trading organizations
  • Build and manage a robust sales pipeline that supports quarterly and annual revenue targets
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for target organizations
  • Conduct effective discovery sessions with prospects to understand their business challenges and requirements
  • Create compelling value propositions that articulate how PLEXOS solutions address specific trading challenges
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations, demonstrations, and proposals
  • Successfully negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to close new business deals
  • Work with the Solutions team to coordinate effective proof-of-concept studies that showcase PLEXOS capabilities
  • Accurately forecast sales activity and revenue using CRM tools

Market Intelligence and Strategic Planning

  • Monitor and analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments in the energy trading sector
  • Identify emerging opportunities within the EMEA power and gas trading markets
  • Provide feedback to product management on market needs and competitive positioning
  • Contribute to the development of regional go-to-market strategies
  • Represent Energy Exemplar at industry events, conferences, and webinars to build brand awareness
  • Create original thought leadership content on energy trading topics for marketing campaigns

Customer and Partner Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers in target accounts
  • Collaborate with the Solutions team to ensure successful customer onboarding and implementation
  • Work with partners (consulting firms, system integrators) to develop joint value propositions
  • Identify and pursue cross-selling and upselling opportunities within the customer base
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers on energy market modelling and simulation best practices

This is a customer-facing role, and therefore successful candidates will not only have strong sales capabilities and domain expertise but also excellent communication skills, be outgoing, professional, driven, and able to multi-task in a dynamic and often changing environment.


Candidate Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of successful B2B software sales experience, preferably in the energy sector
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets and closing new business deals
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, trading operations, and market fundamentals
  • Experience selling complex, high-value solutions to power trading organizations, utilities, or energy intensive organizations.
  • Excellent presentation and demonstration skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to various audiences
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to navigate complex procurement processes
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and sales methodologies
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a focus on quality
  • Willingness to travel internationally within the EMEA region (approximately 40-50%)

Desired but not required:

  • Knowledge of electricity and gas market modelling, optimization, or simulation tools
  • Experience selling to power and gas trading desks
  • Understanding of stack modelling, price forecasting, fundamental analysis, and risk management in energy trading
  • Experience in solution selling with long and complex sales cycles
  • Network of contacts within the EMEA energy trading community
  • Knowledge of one or more European languages beyond English
