Company Overview

Primex Plastics (European Division), a subsidiary of USA-based Primex Plastics Corporation, is a leading thermoplastic sheet extruder located in Newton Aycliffe, Co. Durham. We specialise in custom thermoplastic sheet for thermoforming and supply into the automotive, building, leisure, and agricultural markets across both the UK and Europe. Following considerable growth in recent years, Primex Plastics Limited is now seeking additional sales talent to support our ambitious growth plans and corporate goals.

The Person

We're looking for an intelligent, technically adept individual with a high aptitude for science and a likeable, impactful personality. While previous sales experience is desirable, it's not essential; a natural drive and desire to succeed, characteristic of top salespeople, are paramount.

Fluency in additional languages is a significant advantage, ideally German, Italian, and/or French, to effectively support our international customers.

A knowledge of thermoplastics is also beneficial but not required, as full training will be provided. The successful candidate must be sharp, able to think quickly under pressure, and possess excellent analytical and mathematical abilities. We need a self-motivated, adaptable, grounded, and trustworthy individual capable of working independently, with excellent negotiating skills and the ability to 'think outside the box'.

Ideally, you will also demonstrate tangible leadership qualities for future development and potential senior roles within the company.

The Role

Your primary responsibility will be to expand and grow sales of our thermoplastic sheet products across the UK and European markets. This proactive role involves direct selling, customer visits, canvassing, market data gathering, and strategic marketing to identify and target specific accounts and opportunities.

You will also be responsible for managing an existing portfolio of accounts, currently totaling approximately £3-4 million in sales. This includes handling order queries and complaints, driving sales growth, gathering market information, and building solid relationships.

Additionally, you will play a key part in marketing efforts, managing our website and physical marketing materials, requiring exceptional computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products.

Initially, you'll spend approximately three months based at our production plant in Newton Aycliffe, gaining a deep understanding of our capabilities, products, technical knowledge, and company ethos. Accommodation will be provided during this initial period.

Following that, the role will work-from-home and involves extensive travel across both the UK and Europe. As such, location to Primex is not relevant, but you need a full driving licence and valid passport.

For the right candidate, there is clear potential to progress into a Senior Management position within the business.

Pay and Conditions
  • £25,000 to £30,000 salary + generous target-based bonus. Full details will be outlined following the first interview.
