Job Description

Reports to: Senior Manager Sales Engineering

Location: London Heathrow

Introduction to role

The area you will be working in focuses on the development of the Airports and Parcel segment in the EMEA LATAM region (Northern Europe and Middle East). Your department also supports other Vanderlande customer centres globally in Sales Layout Engineering, Sales Engineering, and Sales Consultancy. To support growth and future readiness, we are looking for a Sales Engineer to strengthen our team.

Role Responsibilities

As a Sales Engineer, your challenge is to identify customer goals and requirements early in the sales process and translate this into a technical solution that balances technology and competitive pricing. You will support, challenge, and collaborate with the sales manager during pre-bid, bid, and closing phases to secure projects. You should also be able to prepare and present technical content convincingly to customers.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Co-defining the winning sales strategy with the Sales Manager and translating it into a solution.
  2. Solving commercial and tactical issues with the Sales Manager.
  3. Translating customer needs into an overall solution, understanding their processes, operations, tender procedures, and stakeholders.
  4. Managing all sales engineering deliverables during the sales process, involving technical experts to develop the best solution.
  5. Leading the internal sales project team in line with sales planning to achieve the winning solution.
  6. Providing updates to senior management on bid status and progress.
  7. Integrating technical solution, planning, pricing, and terms into a clear quotation within budget.
  8. Presenting the technical solution attractively and interactively to demonstrate customer value.
  9. Managing multiple projects across various sales phases.
  10. Listening to and analyzing customer requirements effectively.

Note: Occasional travel is expected for this role.

Role Qualifications and Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • BSc/MSc in a technical field.
  • Proven experience with material handling systems is highly preferred.
  • Experience with customer interaction through presentations and workshops is highly preferred.
  • Experience in the Airport/Parcel domain is preferred.
