Overview

Sales Engineer - MRO / Motor & Pump Repair

The Opportunity: We are looking for a skilled and motivated Sales Engineer to join our growing client in Manchester. You'll be covering a high-potential region including Greater Manchester, Liverpool, Cumbria, with the backing of two internal sales support staff based in Manchester. This role blends account management (70%) with new business development (30%). You'll inherit a range of accounts (with expected revenue of around £1M per year) while actively hunting for new opportunities in motor and pump repair, MRO services, and predictive maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of industrial accounts, ensuring excellent service and revenue growth.
  • Identify and win new business across sectors including paper mills, manufacturing, food production, chemical, baking, and pharmaceutical.
  • Develop strong relationships with motor repair customers, paper companies, and paper mills, offering mechanical, electrical, electronic, and predictive maintenance solutions.
  • Use CRM systems to manage pipelines, activities, and client data effectively.
  • Be on the road visiting client sites — particularly after Monday morning planning/admin.
  • Entertain and engage clients to grow internal business and cross-sell new products/services.
  • Hit quarterly targets to earn commission from new products and services (motors, pumps, etc.).
Qualifications
  • Experience in technical sales, ideally within rotating equipment repair, pump repair, or MRO sectors.
  • Ability to manage and grow large industrial accounts.
  • A hunter mentality - confident cross-seller who can spot opportunities and win new business.
  • Familiarity with key customer industries: manufacturing, chemical, pharma, food, and paper.
  • Self-motivated, field-based mindset - proactive and comfortable on the road.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build long-term client relationships.
  • Experience using a CRM system for managing activities and forecasting.
  • Full UK driving licence.
