Job Summary:

This is a critical role in delivering short, medium and long-term omnichannel sales excellence. The Sales Director will lead UK & Ireland commercial operations, overseeing a 35-person sales and account team and ensuring revenue and profit targets are achieved. The role involves developing and executing the sales strategy, collaborating with cluster and segment stakeholders to strengthen existing channels, and using data-driven insights to identify growth opportunities. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep knowledge of the UK&I shopper and retailer landscape and a strong track record in building and motivating high-performing sales teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy Planning and Execution: Develop and implement strategies to exceed revenue goals. Monitor market trends and competitor activity to refine plans.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of channel sales leaders and account managers. Set targets, coach performance and ensure delivery.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, finance and operations teams to align execution.
  • Customer Relationships: Build strong retailer partnerships; lead top-level negotiations and planning.
  • Performance Tracking: Analyse sales metrics to improve ROI of promotions and programmes and adjust plans based on insights.
  • Commercial Capabilities Development: Drive capability development in Joint Business Planning, Category Growth, DSMP (Display, Shelf, Merchandising, Pricing), and Revenue Growth Management.
  • Budget Management: Oversee the sales budget, focusing on Net Sales, Customer Program effectiveness, and Gross Margin.

Candidate profile:

  • Sales leadership: Success in leading large sales teams and £100-500m revenue streams. Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to make decisions using insights.
  • Domain: Background in CPG, FMCG or Durable goods; deep understanding of UK&I retail dynamics and consumer behaviour.
  • Relationship management: Skilled in managing top UK&I retailer partnerships and Joint Business Planning.
  • Communication: Confident communicator with senior stakeholders; strong in negotiation, presentations and external engagement.
