Our client is known for delivering innovative products and services to customers within FMCG/Retail - Goods not for resale! They are on a mission to expand their reach and make their mark in the market. As part of their growth strategy, they are seeking an experienced and dynamic Sales Director to lead business development efforts and secure new contracts with key Retailers and Grocery accounts.

Job Description

As the Sales Director, you will be responsible for driving the sales strategy to secure new Retail/Grocery contracts, selling a service rather than goods for resale. You will identify and secure new business opportunities, manage client relationships, and lead a team to meet sales targets. This high-impact role requires strong leadership, negotiation, and strategic thinking to increase revenue in a competitive marketplace.

Responsibilities

  1. New Business Acquisition: Identify and pursue new opportunities, including securing long-term contracts with retail and grocery businesses.
  2. Sales Strategy: Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with company objectives.
  3. Client Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
  4. Leadership: Lead, coach, and motivate a sales team to achieve revenue goals and improve performance.
  5. Market Analysis: Conduct research on market trends, competitors, and growth opportunities.
  6. Contract Negotiation: Negotiate and close deals ensuring favorable terms aligned with company goals.
  7. Collaboration: Work with marketing, product, and operations teams for successful service delivery.
  8. Team Management: Manage 4 direct reports (line managers).

The Successful Candidate

  • Proven experience in sales and business development within Retail/Grocery sectors.
  • Strong ability to win new contracts and grow client portfolios.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience managing sales teams.
  • Outstanding negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker capable of adapting to market changes and client needs.
  • Ability to build and sustain long-term client relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess market trends and competitors.
