POSITION

Allspring Global Investments offers a broad range of investment products and solutions designed to meet insurance companies' goals. Fixed income is our specialty, as our broad and experienced teams manage $439 billion in assets under management and advisement out of the firm's total of $600 billion. This role will lead insurance distribution for the international business and working closely with our international distribution team of 50 and existing Insurance team of 10. Allspring’s insurance team is a leader in providing solutions for insurance companies, having managed customised insurance portfolios for over 40 years. With over $52 billion globally in unaffiliated insurance assets under management, backing all types of insurance liabilities - life, health, property and casualty, captives, and global re-insurers. This is an exciting role to leverage the existing experienced team and complement with a deep understanding of the unique accounting, regulatory, and business needs of internationally based insurers, and to work with our investment teams to customise solutions to meet insurers’ various objectives. We employ over 75 dedicated fixed income research analysts, which we believe is a core strength and one of our key competitive advantages. Their role is to maintain active credit recommendations on a large universe of corporate issuers, and to clearly communicate their credit opinions, highlighting high conviction opportunities to the investment team both in the primary and secondary markets. This hire would provide additional depth to our growing international business building on our existing success and lead Allspring’s insurance business to the next level.

We currently operate in a hybrid working model, whereby you will be required to work in-office 3 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead Allspring’s international (ex-US) insurance distribution efforts and create a go to market strategy to grow Allspring’s International insurance footprint
• Drive Allspring's insurance market expansion by strategically engaging senior stakeholders through targeted business development activities, effectively enhancing the firm's investment value proposition and market presence within the insurance sector.
• Leverage deep industry expertise to demonstrate Allspring's comprehensive understanding of insurers' unique investment requirements, instilling client trust through tailored asset management solutions that precisely address regulatory and strategic constraints.
• Develop a thorough knowledge of Allspring’s global investment platform, technology and other capabilities of relevance to insurance clients. Identify gaps in existing service provision and drive the development of new services to exploit emerging client needs.
• Foster and nurture relationships with industry experts to enhance insurance knowledge across our investment platform.
• Partner closely with portfolio management, investment solutions and product teams to translate insurance market requirements into tailored investment solutions that effectively meet insurers’ objectives.
• Be an active member of our global insurance team representing the needs of the international business
• Serve as a specialised internal expert, providing critical insights on insurance-specific regulatory, accounting, and liability frameworks to guide the development and refinement of investment strategies and product offerings.
• Help create and guide thought leadership and investment strategy collateral to support investment teams, client portfolios, and enhance Allspring’s market presence.

PREFERRED SKILLS

• CFA, Actuary or similar qualification

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of insurance focused consulting, investment management, or equivalent investment experience.
• Deep understanding of different region's needs including extensive knowledge of regulatory and accounting regimes such as Solvency II, Solvency UK and IFRS, for insurers investment needs. Willingness to tackle regimes in Asia where Allspring has a material footprint (e.g. Hong Kong Risk-Based Capital).
• In-depth understanding of regulatory complexities such as Matching Adjustment and Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR) optimisation techniques
• Demonstrated expertise in working with portfolio managers to design comprehensive investment approaches tailored specifically to the unique financial requirements of insurance organisations.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across all organisational levels.
• Proven track record of delivering results and bringing projects to closure in line with objectives.
• Experience with investment analysis and knowledge of valuation techniques.
• Extensive knowledge of the asset management industry, including key trends, investor types, and relevant regulations.
• Experience representing Sustainability / ESG
