Sales & Design Manager (Industrial and Commercial Refrigeration)

About the job

Our Client's UK&I Service team delivers innovative maintenance and service solutions to a wide customer base across all industry segments for industrial & commercial refrigeration, HVAC, chillers, controls, and mechanical & electrical works.

They are seeking a Sales & Design Manager to support their existing customer base along with new business opportunities across the UK. You will be working directly with end users, consultants, and construction companies.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate technical tenders and prepare technical bid evaluation documentation.
  2. Review of customers documentation and drawings as required.
  3. Developing and implementing refrigeration engineering solutions through to design for manufacture, the full project life cycle.
  4. Producing technical drawings, piping isometrics, Mechanical & Electrical Plant (MEP) component models, MEP installation drawings.
  5. Design of auxiliary cooling components, child water pipework, pumps, control valves etc.
  6. Recording quantities take off and scheduling (Including Bill of Materials).
  7. Experience of selecting components, such as compressors, expansion valves, heat exchangers, vessels etc.
  8. Participation in HAZOP, HAZID and LOPA studies.
  9. Participation in Design and Constructability reviews.
  10. Delivering your scope of work to time and budget.
  11. Maintenance and Spare Parts Philosophy.
  12. Undertake detailed site dilapidation reports and energy efficiency surveys.

Essential Requirements

  1. An undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or any similar area.
  2. A good theoretical knowledge of refrigerant cycles (e.g., interpreting P-h curves, calculating cycle efficiencies, and performing heat transfer calculations).
  3. Experience with refrigerant selection and an understanding of their relative merits and disadvantages.
  4. Knowledge of F-GAS refrigeration standards and certifications e.g., EN378.
  5. Competency with refrigeration system design software, such as White Rose or REFPROP.
  6. Practical experience and an appreciation of the challenges involved in putting together a complete refrigeration system.
  7. The ability to read and create P&IDs.
  8. Working experience with mechanical CAD software, such as Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc.
  9. An understanding of auxiliary equipment that interface with refrigerant circuits.
  10. Hands-on experience of fault detection and diagnostics in refrigeration circuits.
  11. Understanding of control methodologies for refrigerant systems.
