Job description

Do you want to learn what information goes into the sale of a book – and how we use that to better understand how to sell more? Our Sales Analysis & Reporting team are looking for an energetic and inquisitive person to join them as their new Sales Data Assistant.

Sitting within the group Sales team, the Sales Analysis and Reporting team works across all Penguin Random House UK divisions, delivering commercial and consumer sales-based business intelligence to colleagues across the breadth of the Sales department and throughout the wider organisation, striving to provide accessible and actionable insight.

This is an exciting time for the team as it looks to transform its existing suite of reporting, and the Sales Data Assistant is a new role with great scope to learn from different areas of the business and about many customers and processes, but most importantly about different data sources and how we leverage that resource to produce impactful analysis.

Key responsibilities:

Produce information to support the monthly financial accruals process and ongoing customer trading agreements

Create regular and ad-hoc reporting for specific customers and business areas

Administer Sales Reporting & Analysis team processes for project development

Operate as a point of contact for business colleagues for issues or queries relating to Sales-owned corporate and departmental reporting

For the right candidate, there would be opportunities to learn more advanced technical skills from our team of analysts and put these to use with data visualisation tools

A good level of numeracy

A desire to build relationships and work collaboratively as part of a team

Strong written and spoken communication skills

A proactive and analytical mindset

Some knowledge of Excel
