Job Description
The Sales Associate will drive lead and business development efforts for a commercial mechanical contractor, covering territories including Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. This role focuses on identifying early-stage project opportunities, building relationships with engineers, contractors, distributors, manufacturers reps, and collaborating with our internal estimating team to deliver winning proposals.
Responsibilities include:
- External Sales & Lead generation
- Develop and execute outbound strategies to identify and engage potential customers early in project development.
- Build relationships with engineers, GCs, developers, and manufacturer reps to stay ahead of bid opportunities.
- Attend networking events, trade shows, and client meetings to increase brand awareness and pipeline activity.
- Qualify leads through project document review, stakeholder discussions, and scope analysis.
- Track regional construction and infrastructure developments in education, retail, healthcare, and industrial markets.
- Review project specifications and mechanical drawings to understand scope and requirements.
- Coordinate with the internal estimating team to communicate customer needs, scope clarifications, and insights.
- Ensure seamless lead handoff to internal staff and support proposal development as needed.
- Maintain communication with prospects throughout the bid process, providing updates and technical guidance.
- Keep detailed records of sales activities, leads, and follow-ups using internal tracking tools.
- Monitor sales metrics and report regularly on lead status, market coverage, and activity levels.
- Provide insights to refine marketing and sales strategies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in technical sales, business development, or estimating within the mechanical or construction sectors.
- Strong familiarity with the Philadelphia area and surrounding states, including property management firms and developers.
- Proven success in generating leads and developing relationships leading to project opportunities.
- Solid understanding of mechanical drawings and construction documents.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based role with minimal supervision.
- Experience in mechanical piping, HVAC, or pre-insulated piping systems sales or estimating.
- Experience working with manufacturer representatives or rep firms.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems is required.
- Regular travel expected (e.g., Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland) with in-office work as needed.
