Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd in the UK is seeking a motivated Sales Assistant to support our Shop Manager and a team of volunteers in a busy charity shop. You will assist customers from entry to purchase, maintain high visual merchandising standards, promote Gift Aid, handle cash and banking, and help train volunteers.

This role runs Monday to Saturday on shift basis and offers an inclusive environment where you can develop customer service and retail skills while contributing to the

• Explain Gift Aid and other promotions to customers
• Complete company paperwork including cashing up and banking procedures
• Support and train volunteers in shop duties
• Sort and prepare donated stock for sale
• Travel to other shops within a cluster as needed
• Support Shop Manager with health and safety practices
• Be responsible for daily shop running and volunteer management in Manager's absence
• Ensure personal behaviour reflects company values

• Operate cash register and handle daily banking procedures
• Promote Gift Aid and promotions to shoppers
• Assist in training volunteers and coordinating shifts
• Prepare donated stock for sale and restock shelves
• Coordinate travel to other SATCoL shops when required
• Support health and safety practices throughout the store
• Cover in Manager's absence and ensure smooth daily operations
• Uphold Salvation Army values in customer interactions

We are looking for an enthusiastic Sales Assistant. If you have had customer focussed experience, whether in paid or voluntary roles and have a friendly and positive outlook then we are looking for you to assist our Shop Manager and team of hardworking volunteers to make our shop be as successful as it can possibly be.

General duties

• Help to maintain high standards of visual merchandising throughout the shop
• Assist our customers throughout their visit, from entering the shop to completing their purchase
• Actively promote and explain the benefits of Gift Aid to customers and other various promotions
• Complete all company paperwork, including cashing up and banking procedures
• Encourage and assist in the training of volunteers
• Assist in the sorting and preparation of all donated stock
• Travel to other shops if part of a cluster from time to time
• Support the Shop Manager in all aspects of best practice and Health and Safety Procedures
• Be responsible for the daily running of the shop and management of volunteers in the Managers absence
• Ensure that personal behaviour reflects the visions and values of the company
