Job description

A fantastic opportunity to join a world class team, supporting learning and education within the business setting and beyond. The Sales and Development Manager role is pivotal to the success and growth of learning programmes by increasing attendance and thus revenue for your assigned projects.

As part of the front-line sales team, you will be the first key contact for programme enquiries and will channel leads into the sales pipeline. Using proven sales methods and the resources of the company's CRM system, you will seek to convert high-potential leads into sales opportunities. Regularly reporting on sales achieved, the role holder will ensure that the Business Development Director and Programmes Director are kept fully informed of progress towards the achievement of the department's objectives on a weekly basis.

You will engage in active sales techniques - involving personalised interactions including proactive outbound calling and emails. Actively pursue sales opportunities with target organisations, including giving presentations about the programmes on offer, understanding your USP's and product value.

Collaborate with the Business Development Director to identify opportunities to sell your products and services.

Sales and portfolio management including Horizon scanning and market knowledge.

Stay updated on industry events, sectoral changes, and key players in relevant markets and regions, enabling a nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by target client organisations.

Accurately enter and maintain prospect and client details in our CRM database, coordinating with technical colleagues to meet the open programmes team's CRM requirements. Liaise and engage with participants and the finance team to ensure efficient revenue tracking and prompt payments, while maintaining a courteous and efficient approach. Nurture and maintain cordial relationships with past programme participants and clients. Collaborate with the Alumni association to maintain effective post-programme communication. Undertake business development research to identify key contacts in target organisations for nurturing and establishing of corporate relationships. Liaison with stakeholders.

Prepare regular reports on monthly business development activities, highlighting progress towards department objectives. Provide administrative, sales, and client relationship support to the Business Development Director and Marketing team during recruitment activities and events. Maintain and update information held by the company for suppliers and clients. Participate in client, team, and staff meetings, as well as ad hoc project groups as required. Generate regular reports on the status of programmes within your portfolio. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, including payments to contributors, and maintain accurate records in the CRM system. Ensure that all records in the CRM system are accurate and kept up to date. Utilise company IT systems for data management in accordance with company policy and data protection regulations.

The ideal candidate should have the following qualities, skills and attributes:

  1. Graduate level or equivalent.
  2. Demonstrable sales experience or exposure to a sales-led environment.
  3. Previous experience working in the Education sector or similar would be an advantage.
  4. Proactive sales approach with a good foundation of business development, sales, and marketing.
  5. Experience of working in a service environment is highly desirable.
  6. Excellent planning skills, gained through professional or personal experience.
  7. Ability to work with academics, senior decision makers and company executives.
  8. Ability to demonstrate a highly developed level of professional customer service and a strong desire to exceed expectations.
  9. A flexible approach to work, willing to "go the extra mile" whenever necessary in order to ensure that client's and stakeholder's needs are met within the scope of the project.
  10. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate accuracy and fluency in spoken and written communications.
  11. Excellent attention to detail in written communication.
  12. Financial awareness and the aptitude to learn to manage costs and develop budgets.
  13. Very comfortable managing and manipulating numerical and qualitative data.
  14. Ability to negotiate the best possible solutions for clients and the company.
  15. An ability to work under pressure and to enjoy the challenges of tight deadlines.
  16. Demonstrable problem-solving skills.
  17. Excellent IT skills, particularly in MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  18. Experience of managing a sales process using a CRM system.
