Job description

We're looking to bring in a tenacious, driven and resilient Freight Account Manager. This is a tremendous opportunity with genuine development opportunities for someone who is looking for a career, rather than a job. You don't need industry experience, but you will need to be willing to learn, to be able to deliver great results, and to always be striving to hit that next milestone.

Your Role

You will be responsible for managing the accounts you win. That means building and maintaining relationships with your customers, providing a tailored service, and growing your accounts to achieve maximum profitability to help you hit (and smash) your targets. This role will require you to be based at our office in Dartford, reporting to the Assistant Sales Manager and working alongside the existing team of Account Managers, as well as a team of Customer Service Specialists. We provide a dynamic environment where colleagues are able to bounce ideas off each other, as well as take part in a bit of friendly competition too!

Your Responsibilities
  • Generate new prospect leads and new accounts over the telephone and face-to-face.
  • Attend appointments with customers in the local region.
  • Consistently grow the gross profit and achieve the targets as set out in the Freight Account Manager Scheme.
  • Maximise all revenue opportunities from existing customers by proactively pursuing undeveloped areas.
  • Process consignments and enter telesales information on to the internal database.
  • Monitor consignments, ensuring that the highest levels of service are carried out at every stage.
  • Provide customers with accurate and cost-effective quotations.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly figures of sales activity.
Your Skills and Experiences
  • Have proven experience of stakeholder management and networking to achieve results.
  • Experience in working to targets and deadlines.
  • Experience in working in a proactive sales role either on the phone or face-to-face.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate an ability to negotiate and influence others.
  • Have a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to drive in the UK.
Good Reasons to Join

If you would like to become a valued member of our team, we will make sure that you’re rewarded for your commitment and expertise. You can join the contributory Kuehne+Nagel pension plan and enjoy our Route 2 Rewards scheme, which offers everything from discounts, benefit information, recognition and its own wellbeing centre. We care for our colleagues (and their immediate family) with our employee assistance programme providing access to 24/7 GP, legal and financial advice along with mental health counselling. All of this to help you live a happier and healthier life. As proud holders of the Gold Covenant, we are a forces-friendly employer who recognise the skills, expertise and value service leavers bring to our organisation.
