Job description

Role: Salaried GP (Newly Qualified ARRS)

2 clinical sessions p/w to be worked mid-week plus every other Saturday. Pro rata CPD and admin session per week.

Start date ideally 1st July 2025

Main duties of the job
  • Provide a high standard of General Medical Services to the Practice and PCN population (Saturdays) within agreed protocols
  • Provide face to face, telephone and video consultations
  • Provide care and advice in the management of illness or disease
  • Refer patients and arrange investigations within the agreed timeframe
  • Admit patients or signpost to other services where clinically appropriate
  • Ensure clear and concise records of all consultations are documented within the patient record
  • Undertake related administration, ie, issue, check and sign prescriptions, action test results
  • Provide support and clinical supervision to the Extended Access team

JOB DESCRIPTION

PURPOSE: The information contained within this document is intended to provide a general summary of the role of a Salaried General Practitioner. The job description is subject to periodic review and amendment in consultation with the post-holder in the light of changing circumstances.

POST: Salaried GP (Newly qualified GP ARRS)

RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE TO: The Partners at Stonehill Medical Centre and Management team

JOB SUMMARY: To provide the highest standard of care to patients across the PCN within the Extended Access Service. To provide and arrange medical care, treatment, advice and health education to the Practices patients. To maintain good quality, accurate records of all consultations whether face to face or by telephone, including those carried out by visiting the patients home. The Post-holder will work in accordance with the standards set by the GMC, Care Quality Commission and NICE.

SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a high standard of General Medical Services to the PCN population within agreed protocols
  • Provide face to face, telephone and video consultations
  • Provide care and advice in the management of illness or disease
  • Refer patients and arrange investigations within the agreed timeframe
  • Admit patients to hospital where clinically appropriate
  • Ensure clear and concise records of all consultations are documented within the patient record
  • Undertake related administration, ie, issue and sign prescriptions, action test results
  • Provide support and clinical supervision to the Extended Access team
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and help to maintain excellent teamwork generally
  • Assist in the provision of Primary Care Services and liaise with the Primary Health Care

Team

  • Actively participate in work relating to Quality and Outcomes Framework, enhanced services and other Practice related administration work
  • Actively participate in quality improvement and safety culture within the practice and across the PCN, ie, by reporting, investigating and sharing learning from significant events and complaints
  • Actively participate in the annual GP appraisal system and personal development
  • Comply with all Practice Policies and Procedures, in particular:

Safeguarding Children and Adults

Infection Control policies

Information Governance policies

Care Quality Commission requirements

Equality and diversity policy

  • Actively participate in training and research within the practice and encourage development, including supervision of trainee GPs/medical students, demonstrating high standards of clinical care
  • Provide flexibility to suit the Practice needs
  • Carry out all duties in a timely manner, in line with our Professional Standards protocol
  • Any other duty considered appropriate to the role.

Essential
  • Newly qualified within 2 years
  • MB CHB
  • MRCGP and CSA
  • Not employed as a GP substantively in general practice previously.
Desirable
  • DCH, DRCOG and FP Certificate
  • GP trainer/Clinical Supervisor
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Advanced IT skills and able to develop IT systems
  • Experience of TPP and Emis software
Qualifications
