Job summary

The Holbrook and Shotley Practice is seeking a salaried GP to join their busy, two-site practice near Ipswich. Flexible 6–8 sessions per week, with a friendly patient population and a low level of complaints. Home visits are undertaken by our visiting physician.

Applicants should be fully qualified with GMC registration, be on the NHSE performers list, and commit to life-long learning, with strong chronic disease management skills and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified GP with GMC registration.
• Annual appraisal and revalidation.
• Be on the NHSE medical performers list.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery and telephone consultations, home visits, and prescription management.
• Make autonomous clinical decisions for presenting medical problems.
• Assess health needs in undifferentiated cases and develop care plans.
• Screen disease risk factors and early illness signs.
• Provide health education and maintain clear consultation notes.
• Collect data for audit and comply with QOF requirements.
• Deliver enhanced services and issue acute/repeat prescriptions.
• Carry out general duties of a GP in primary care.

Job summary

Are you looking for a great work/life balance in a coastal location?

The Holbrook and Shotley Practice is looking for a salaried GP to join their busy, stable practice, covering up to 8 sessions per week.

We can offer you:

• 8,000 patients over two sites (Holbrook and Shotley)

Main duties of the job

• Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion;
• Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation;
• Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems;
• Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness;
• Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols;
• Providing health education;
• Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards;
• Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements;
• Delivering enhanced services;
• Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions;
• All general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Qualifications

Essential

• Fully qualified GP with GMC registration

Experience

Essential

• Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services;
• Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date;
• Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety;
• Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a confidential manner.
