We are located in the ancient Forest of Dean, close to the picturesque Wye Valley and the Welsh Borders. There are good road links to rest of Gloucester, Cheltenham, South Wales and Bristol.
Working over 3 x sites. Coleford Health Centre, Coleford, GL16 8RH, Brunston Surgery, Coleford, GL16 8HJ, Lydbrook Health Centre, Lydbrook, GL17 9LG
New build approved. Expected new build in 2026.
From August 2025 8 x salaried doctors and a GP assistant, happy to mentor newly qualified GPs or returners.

We believe it is important for staff and patients for us to keep to BMA advised safe working limits. 15min appts are standard.
6 weeks annual leave and 1 week study leave.
Specialist clinical interests and training courses supported.

Document management team to reduce GP workload.
We will be merging with GDOC from 1st August 2025 ,a not-for- profit organisation owned by all the GP practices in Gloucestershire. Primary care clinician duties, including (but not limited to) face to face consultations, video consultations, telephone consultations, e-consultations and queries. Also, home visits, duty doctor/on-call responsibilities, clinical administration, prescribing, and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. Acting as Named GP for a share of registered patients proportionate to contracted hours.
Complying with the General Medical Councils Good Medical Practice and other standards for doctors.
You will be required to be immunisedin compliance with Green Book (link attached) and NHS recommendations for yourrole (unless medically exempt).
G DOC LTD is owned by all the GP Practices in Gloucestershire; thePractices are our shareholders.
We operate on a not-for-profit basis: any profits are redistributed intoprimary care in Gloucestershire.
We are a limited company run by a Board of Directors, most of whom are experiencedlocal GPs.
We run a number of GP practices, as well as some other services for thewhole county.
In Gloucester we run 9,500 patients at Gloucester Health Access Centre/MatsonLane (9,500 patients) and Partners inHealth (12,400).
In the Forest of Dean, we run two practices, both of which aredispensing: Lydney (7,500 patients), and Blakeney (3,200 patients).
From 1st August 2025 GDOC will be also running Coleford Medical Practice dispensing: (13,600) patients.
Our countywide services include:
G DOC is running a Covid Medicines Service to help and support thehigh-risk patients in Gloucestershire.
Over 17,000 primary care appointments each year at Gloucester HealthAccess Centre for patients who may need to be seen the same day when their ownpractice is already full, or who do not have a registered GP. GHAC is open8am8pm, 365 days a year.
Surgery consultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, triaging, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, patient test results, patient medical reports and examinations (e.g. insurance companies) on behalf of the Practice, referral letters, and NHS/private paperwork and correspondence.
Undertaking a share of the clinical and administrative work of the Practice, including pooled clinical admin, QOF, audit, prescribing reviews etc.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation;
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards;
Collecting data for audit purposes as per Practice protocols.
Reviewingpatients for the purposes of quality improvement and safety. i.e. MRHA safetyalerts and long-term condition reviews.
Prescribingin accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines.
Coverfor other doctors by reciprocal sharing of correspondence, results andprescriptions for absent doctors.
If appointed as Lead GP:
Provide clinical leadership, support andmanagerial oversight to G DOCs clinicians
Work with the Chief Executive, ClinicalDirector and Practice Manager to ensure that the Practice has a robust systemof clinical governance and risk management, including clinical audit,management of significant events (including Serious Incidents), and complaints.
Ensure the Practice provides a supportiveworking environment for clinicians, and support clinicians learning andprofessional development.
Support and manage the clinical, administrativeand contractual work of the Practice, working in partnership with G DOCsmanagement team, particularly the Practice Manager.
Represent thePractice within the primary care network and develop PCN-based working
