Hartlepool Network is a network of five practices - with a combined list size of over 30,000 patients.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Newly Qualified GP to join our team through the NHS Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS).
This position offers flexibility depending on the requirements of the Primary Care Network (PCN), working hours ranging up to 40 per week. Our ideal candidate is passionate about transforming healthcare delivery by embracing technology and automation to enhance patient care.
As a salaried GP you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to a diverse population, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic healthcare. You will actively engage in clinical meetings, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.

The position requires candidates to have the legal right to work in the UK, medical indemnity insurance, and an enhanced DBS check, along with a digital badge for secure system access.
As post holder you will be expected to support HPCN in providing all services outlined in the GMS contract. You will be expected to support and input into areas of clinical governance, good practice, quality outcomes framework, enhanced services, practice audit, referral review and any other improvement plans as determined by the clinical director. You are encouraged to utilise and develop skills for the improvement of services to patients.
You will be expected to maintain and keep good standards of computerised clinical records in line with GMC guidance.
You should be competent to work as duty doctor as well as dealing with other daily enquiries.
You will be expected to be able to complete all work by the end of the working day, for example prescriptions, tasks, lab links and referrals.
Hartlepool Network are a team of 5 practices consisting of West Quay Medical Practice, West View Millennium Surgery, Seaton Surgery, Gladstone House Practice and Hart Medical Practice. Together we have approximately 35000 patients spread across our locality of Hartlepool.
Our Clinical Director and wider teams of Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and administrators, along with our Additional Reimbursable Role (ARRS) staff of Social Prescribers, Care Co-ordinators, First Contact Physio, Mental Health team and Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technicians team work in harmony to deliver outstanding medical services to our patient population.
We are looking for newly qualified (within 2 years and not having had a substantive post), enthusiastic, forward-thinking GPs to join our team on a fixed term salaried contact until 31 March 2026. We will consider applications for between 2 and 8 sessions with a start date as soon as possible.
As this is a PCN post, you may be required to work across multiple practices within Hartlepool Primary care Network.
To undertake duties governed by the PMS/GMS contract and requirements of Direct and Local Enhanced Services including:
Face to face and telephone consultations
Online consultations
Triage of patients
Patient Home visits
Checking and signing repeat prescriptions.
Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate.
Dealing with queries, patient test results, referral letters NHS/ private, tasks, emails paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner.
Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients.
Main Tasks:
Clinical
Provide safe, evidence-based, cost-effective, individualised patient care within the surgery, patients own home or other environment where patient care is carried out.
Clinically examine and assess patient needs and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice, PCN and local guidelines.
To recognise the need for and be able to perform and interpret investigatory procedures, including laboratory and radiology.
Ensure appropriate follow up and safety netting of patients.
Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care.
Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans.
Recognise and work within your own competence and in accordance with professional codes of conduct, maintaining accurate and contemporaneous health records.
Independently prescribe for patients within your scope of practice. Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines.
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines and local care pathways.
Recording clear and contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards
To maintain an awareness of developments in clinical practice.
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines e.g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety and QOF standards.
Be aware of your duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to our policies and procedures on Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults.
