Job description

Exciting Opportunity for a newly qualified GP (Please only apply if within two years of your CCT, due to criteria restrictions for ARRS GPs)

As a General Practitioner (GP) employed through the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) within a Primary Care Network (PCN), you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care while working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This role is ideal for a recently qualified GP, offering the opportunity to develop your clinical skills and confidence in a supportive environment. You will manage a range of acute and chronic conditions, participate in health promotion, and contribute to team-based care plans, with appropriate supervision. The post encourages professional growth through regular feedback, mentoring, and opportunities for further training inline with early-career development.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to build on our existing team of motivated Clinical Practitioners. We believe there is ample opportunity within the organisation to improve patient care, and this job can be an exciting part of this journey. The successful candidate will have access to direct mentoring and supervision from experienced Partners. As an educational organisation, we support ongoing further education. The role involves acute patient assessment via history taking, long-term condition management, health promotion, and lifestyle advice. You will also be allocated administration time for patient follow-up work.

We will ensure training in all competencies required for the role.

About us

We serve approximately 17,000 socially and culturally diverse patients from a large, modern, purpose-built facility offering a range of services beyond traditional GP healthcare. Our Community Hub, located in reception, promotes overall wellbeing through shared interests and hobbies, including walking, knitting, and gardening, working with social prescribers.

We operate a nationally recognized social prescribing service and hold high standing in our locality.

The practice comprises GPs, Nurses, HCAs, TNA, a Physiotherapist, and Physician Associates, supported by an experienced management and administrative team dedicated to excellent patient care.

Job responsibilities

As a GP employed through ARRS within a PCN, you will:

  • Provide timely consultations in person and via telephone.
  • Manage a wide range of clinical presentations, including acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and preventive health issues.
  • Triaging and conducting home visits for housebound patients where appropriate.
  • Provide ongoing care for patients with long-term conditions, including care planning and reviews.
  • Prescribe medications safely following current guidance and formulary.
  • Review pathology results, correspondence, and medication requests efficiently.
  • Screen for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Promote health education and preventative strategies.
  • Refer patients to secondary or specialist care when needed, ensuring continuity.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using the clinical IT system.

Administrative duties include managing documents, prescription requests, referrals, and results, ensuring follow-up, contributing to practice protocols, and participating in audit and quality improvement activities.

Professional responsibilities involve maintaining GMC registration, participating in appraisal, staying updated with guidelines, engaging in clinical teaching, fostering team relationships, and upholding confidentiality and data governance principles.
