We are looking for Salaried GPs to join our surgery and make a real difference to the local community. Join us on our journey to improvement. Merchiston Surgery has circa 14,000 patients supported by a well-established partnership.
The successful candidate will benefit from a 'shared learning' environment and dedicated admin time. We have reduced our on the day triage by developing new ways of working.
We are able to offer Tier 2 sponsorship.
We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated salaried GPs to fill up to 4 sessions, joining a strong management team, putting excellence & safe patient care at the heart of everything we do. Significant improvements have already been made with the infrastructure at the surgery, with a refurbished waiting room and a new telephone system now in place.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a Salaried GP for 4 sessions
All normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

About Us
The Merchiston practice was established around 1860 in the village of Stratton-St-Margaret. Until the 1950s, Stratton was a small farming community and it still retains its separate identity, despite now being a suburb of Swindon. The Partnership moved from the original Doctors house into new purpose-built premises in 1992.
Merchiston Surgery is the largest Practice in WHP with a raw patient list of 13,500 (13,700 weighted list)

We are a teaching practice with 2 Education Supervisors, 1 Clinical Supervisor, supporting 3 Trainee GPs. Rated excellent by the Swindon GP QA Panel for our trainee placement.
The Practice is also supported by several ARRS roles employed by Hawthorn & Merchiston PCN

Job Description
Job responsibilities
The post-holder will deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. Responsibilities will reflect requirements of the NHS GP Contracts, and as such may be subject to change as services adapt.
Clinical Responsibilities:
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking, and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
Developing management plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
Providing patients with support, advice, and health education.
Admitting patients to hospital and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
Collecting data for audit purposes when agreed.
Compiling and issuing electronic acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible.)
Prescribing in accordance with the ICB formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Weekly on-call duties pro rata.
