Job description

Knockin Medical Centre is arural practice with a diverse population of 4000 patient spanning NorthShropshire with a small number in Wales.

We recently ranked second in theWest Midlands in a patient satisfaction survey. We provide 15minuteappointments and our small size lends itself to improved patient continuity.Our administrative team are friendly and supportive to patients and clinicianswhich improves the quality of care provided. Our aim is to quickly adaptsystems to evolve to the ever-changing landscape of healthcare, butfundamentally retaining a personal service to patients.

We will provide clinical andpastoral support, social opportunities, mentorship and learning opportunitiesto help integration into our team. We are close to the A5 and there is aprivate car park available to staff. Salary competitive, with an excellent work/ life balance.

Main duties of the job

Provision of General MedicalServices, Enhanced Services, and work with the Primary Care Network, inaccordance with the GMS and other practice contracts. Continuing professionaldevelopment opportunities, and regular practice meetings.

About us

Knockin presently has 2 GPPartners and 3 Salaried GPs. With a steadily increasing list size, we arelooking to add to our GP clinical team. There is a lead nurse, one furtherregistered nurse, one Health Care Assistant and a phlebotomist in post. As part of the Shropshire Rural Alliance Primary Care Network we are also supported by a first point of contact physiotherapist as well as avisiting paramedic service 2 Pharmacists and a Pharmacist Technician.

We are a well-established teamwith a low turnover of staff. We welcome prospective applicants in for aninformal chat with the clinical team, admin team, and a tour of the Practice.

Job responsibilities

Salaried GP Job Plan

Purpose:

Core activities and tasks youwill be expected to undertake whilst you are working at the practice include GPclinical appointments in the practice which will be face to face or else overthe telephone, home visits, medical examinations and all other day to dayclinical duties that a Doctor in the Practice undertakes.

Clinic Sessions:

Visits: Usually provided by PCNparamedic visiting service but availability if needed.

You are not required to beinvolved with other issues relating to the Practice Management responsibilitiessuch as maintenance of the practice premises nor any practice businessconcerns.

Key Responsibilities:

AREA ASSOCIATED TASK/DUTY

General medical services

Providing healthcare and medicalservices to all patients

Participate in extended accessand Duty GP rota when scheduled.

Travel within the practice areato attend home visits when required.

Dealing with paperwork,correspondence and test results associated with patient care.

Providing choice, for patientswho are being referred to Secondary Care

Contemporaneous notes should berecorded to ensure accurate details of patient care and in accordance withrecording data for the Quality & Outcomes Framework.

Participate in and operateclinical governance methods and systems approved by the Partnership orShropshire, Telford & Wrekin ICS

Dealing with medication queriesraised by patients, along with prescribing and onward referral to internal andexternal clinicians, where appropriate

Review, action, and completetasks that are received by other members of the clinical and/or administrationteam that are pertinent to the effective care of patients.

Follow-up results, x-rays, andcorrespondence you have generated.

Working relationships

Liaising with other members ofthe Primary Care Health Team and other agencies as appropriate, to ensure goodrelationships are maintained at all times with patients, colleagues, and otheragencies

Non-NHS related work

Carry out work consideredoutside the NHS, such as medical examinations, certificates and reports etc,where the income is retained by the employer. All fees received by you, byvirtue of your position in the Practice, shall be paid to the Practice.

Maintaining a high standard ofcare to patients by showing a commitment to continuing professional developmentand by participation in clinical meetings and Practice development days

Meetings

You will participate in monthlyClinical Meetings to review care provided to a range of patients.
