Job summary

Coxhoe Medical Practice in the United Kingdom seeks a part-time GP to join a well-established team of 8 GP partners and additional salaried GPs. The role includes 8:30am starts, on-call duties within a collaborative primary care setting, and a fixed 15-minute appointment model with 12 patients per session.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be expected to undertake all of the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working in primarycare. In accordance with the practice timetable the post-holder will makethemselves available, as agreed, to undertake a variety of duties, includingsurgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patientsat home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, resolving medicationqueries, and completion of paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. Thepost-holder will ensure the highest standards of care for all registered andtemporary patients.

We have a well -established partnership with 8 GP partnersworking alongside 6 salaried GPs, 5 Nurse Practitioners (who also do homevisits) and full nursing and support team

We teach medical students and F2 doctors and are a trainingpractice

We have developed GPSI services in dermatology, minorsurgery and ENT and run these services from our Cestria practice

Job responsibilities

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will makethemselves available to undertake a variety of duties and responsibilitiestypical of working in Primary Care. Making professional, autonomous decisionsin relation to presenting problems, whether -self referred or referred fromother health care workers within the organisation. Assessing the healthcareneeds of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Screeningpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness Developing careplans for health in consultation with patients and in line with currentpractice disease protocols. Providing counselling and health education. Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring toother care providers as appropriate. Recording clear and contemporaneousconsultation notes to agreed standards. Collecting data for audit purposes. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions(avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible).

  • Evidence of a commitment to ongoing personal & professional development. Overview of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF). Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients and other healthcare professionals. Ability to listen actively to patients in a non-judgmental manner Strong attention to detail. Patience and a calm demeanour in stressful situations. Formulating treatment plans and evaluation of progress. Ability to work with integrated care pathways, protocols, and patient specific directives. Ability to develop and deliver evidence-based care.
