An exciting opportunityhas arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic GP to join our well established andrespected medical practice for 6 to 8 sessions per week, with apossible view to partnership for the right candidate.

ParkwoodSurgery is a Teaching and Training Practice. Our new stunning purpose-builtextension and completely refurbished building, provides spacious clinical andadmin areas.

Thesuccessful candidate will be supported by anexcellent team of administrative and clinical staff which includes, GPs, Nursing Team, Paramedic, Physician's Associate, Mental Health Nurse, Health and Wellbeing,and Midwife.

We invite applicationsfrom candidates who display excellent patient-centred and evidence-based care, andwho work well in teams to provide holistic care for patients.

Main duties of the job

-Clinicalconsultations to provide medical care to our registered patients. Consultationtypes include telephone, video and face-to-face (where appropriate), with veryoccasional home visits.

-Amixture of daily clinical administrative work and dedicated triage clinics.

-Oncall Duty.

-Areasof clinical specialist interest are encouraged.

- Providemedical services for the practice population to a high standard, and appropriate administration toensure accurate records, patient continuity and quality of care.

- Complywith the requirements of the practices General Medical Services (GMS) contract, Primary Care Network Enhanced Services contracts, National and Local EnhancedServices, educational/training delivery contracts and private contracts.

- Adhereto the principles of good medical practice.

PRINCIPALRESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical

A Salaried GP will:

  • Providehigh quality medical services to patients registered with the practice.
  • Providea full range of services in line with the requirements of the GMS Contractand Enhanced Services Contracts.
  • Referpatients as appropriate and in accordance with local procedures.
  • Undertakeduties such as electronic prescribing, prescribing reviews, telephoneadvice, queries from team-members.
  • Undertakeclinics, post-natal checks, child developmental checks as agreed orrequired.
  • Managelong-term conditions in accordance with practice and national clinicalguidelines.
  • Prescribegenerically and in accordance with the practice formulary.
  • Provideappropriate health promotion advice to all patients
  • Ensuregood clinical governance is part of patient care and other practiceactivities.
  • Adhereto practice guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Practiceevidence-based medicine.
  • Takeongoing responsibility for patients with difficult and complex problemsincluding consistent follow-through.
  • Processall associated workflow from patient consultations including clinicalletters, follow up on results and any follow up tasks
  • Participatein audit and quality improvement processes.

Non-clinical

A Salaried GP will:

  • Maintainclinical records (manual/electronic) in line with good practice and inaccordance with practice procedures including appropriate coding as agreedin the practice.
  • Maintainadministrative records in relation to GMS contract; PCN, National andLocal enhanced services contracts, QOF and QI including coding.
  • Workin line with agreed practice procedures and protocols
  • Beavailable for informal contact with team members, especially other GPs, duringand around session times.
  • Attendon a regular basis in house clinical, administrative, and educationalmeetings.
  • Contributeto the practices clinical governance and quality activities includingclinical audit.
  • Participateand contribute to child and adult safeguarding meetings

TRAINING ANDEDUCATION

A salaried GP will:

  • Preparefor and complete the annual external appraisal system.
  • Preparefor and complete the revalidation process.

Ensures up to date with clinical software in usein the practice

  • Undertaketraining that meets personal, statutory and practice learning needsincluding recording of learning, reflection, complaints etc.
  • Participatein and contribute to learning activities such as significant event reviews,clinical audit, protected learning time.
  • Contributeto delivering teaching for doctors in training in the practice and otherhealth professionals in training.
