Job summary

Responsibilities

• Provide full general practice care to a proportionate caseload of patients
• Undertake surgery and telephone consultations, and home visits where required, including palliative visits
• Assess undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and make autonomous clinical decisions
• Screen for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
• Develop care plans in line with disease management protocols
• Provide counselling and health education
• Refer patients to other care providers as appropriate
• Check and sign prescriptions, prescribing in line with local and national guidance
• Keep clear, timely consultation notes and manage correspondence
• Cover duty GP sessions
• Collect audit data
• Take on clinical leadership for an area of interest over time, and support the wider practice team

A salaried GP post at Whitemoor Medical Centre, filling a vacancy left by a GP who is moving on. The work is general practice care for a population of 12,547 patients, covering consultations, prescribing, care planning and occasional home visits. The role is six sessions across Monday, Thursday and Friday, with the option to take on clinical leadership in an area of interest, and the practice is an accredited training and research site. Full GMC registration, inclusion on a Medical Performers List and a CCT or MRCGP are required.

What the job involves
