Job summary

Wellington House Surgery in Batley is seeking a Salaried GP to join its multidisciplinary team. The post offers GMC registration requirements, NHS GP Register status, and involvement in long-term condition management and prescribing under the GMS contract.

You will participate in telephone triage and duty-doctor duties, maintain accurate records, contribute to audits and practice development, and support teaching of medical students.

Qualifications

• Recognised primary medical qualification (MBBS/BMBS) and GP training to CCT/MRCGP.
• GMC registration with licence to practise is required.
• Inclusion or eligibility for NHS Performers List is essential.

Responsibilities

Job description

This Salaried GP post sits within Wellington House Surgery, serving its practice population from the Batley bases at WF17 5DN and WF17 9EX. The postholder provides clinical care under the GMS contract, manages long-term conditions and prescribing, handles patient administration, and contributes to practice development and governance. Rotating telephone triage and duty-doctor work complement multidisciplinary collaboration, teaching and continuous improvement. The post suits newly qualified or experienced GPs and is available for immediate start; it requires GMC registration and a licence to practise, GP Register status, and inclusion or eligibility for an NHS Performers List.

What the job involves

• Provide medical care to the practice population in line with the GMS contract and GMC standards
• Prescribe in accordance with local and national guidance and manage long-term conditions
• Process referrals, repeat prescription requests and related administration promptly
• Undertake telephone triage and duty-doctor roles on a rota
• Maintain accurate clinical records and follow clinical guidance, practice protocols and policies
• Share the practice workload and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and other staff
• Support clinical audits, quality improvement, local service initiatives and reviews of significant and near-miss events, including root cause analysis
• Take delegated responsibility for one or more QOF areas and contribute to practice meetings
• Contribute to clinical governance, training, financial management and HR, and support the practice’s strategic aims
• Complete appraisal and revalidation requirements and pursue continuing professional development
• Support the training of medical students across clinical disciplines
• Support partners with recommendations to improve income and reduce expenditure

Qualifications

• Recognised primary medical qualification (MBBS, BMBS or equivalent), Foundation Programme and GP specialty training leading to CCT/MRCGP
