Job summary

Shakespeare Health Centre is a busy primary care practice in Hayes seeking a Salaried General Medical Practitioner. You will provide comprehensive medical care to registered patients, with remote access to ARRS staff and a supportive admin team.

The post offers 4 to 6 sessions per week, 6 weeks annual leave and 1 week study leave pro rata, plus a competitive salary of £44k to £66k per year (pro rata for part-time). Defence union fee coverage applies under Crown Indemnity Scheme.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree from a recognised institution.
  • Full GMC registration and GP Register inclusion.

Our practice


  • List size of around 5,800 patients using EMIS Web

  • 2 partners

  • Access to ARRS staff such as Physiotherapist, Mental Health Practitioner, and Dietitian

  • Teaching practice for medical students, Physician Associates, Clinical pharmacists, and GP registrars

  • Strong supportive administrative team with safe and efficient processes managing clinical documents and prescriptions. The workflow is kept to a minimum for our clinicians

  • Clinical pharmacist help in managing LTCs

  • Regular clinical and educational meetings

  • Consistently high QOF achievement

  • Home visits seldom occur, typically 1 to 2 per month. Community Matron would do the routine visits



The position

Key responsibilities


Clinical consultations


  • Conducting both telephone and face-to-face consultations with patients to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions

  • Prescribing medications and treatments as necessary

  • Providing advice on general health, lifestyle, and disease prevention



Chronic disease management


  • Managing patients with chronic conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma

  • Implementing care plans and monitoring patients' progress



Health promotion


  • Promoting health and well-being through patient education and preventive measures

  • Encouraging lifestyle changes to improve overall health

Team collaboration


  • Working closely with nurses, healthcare assistants, and other support staff to deliver coordinated patient care

  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings

  • Engaging in continuous professional development (CPD) to stay updated on medical advancements and best practices

  • Participating in peer review and clinical audit activities



Quality improvement


  • Contributing to the improvement of clinical services and patient outcomesImplementing and adhering to quality and safety standards

  • Contributing to achieving QOF indicators and both practice and PCN level local and directed enhanced services



Qualifications and requirements


  • Medical degree from a recognised institution

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the GP Register

  • Completion of relevant postgraduate training (for example, GP Speciality Training)

  • Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) is desirable

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Keeping own work areas and general / patient areas generally clean, assisting in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness consistent with the scope of the job holder's role

  • Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum annually)
