Newfield Medical Group, Dundee, is looking for an enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our growing and forward-thinking team for 6–8 sessions per week (8 sessions = 1.0 FTE).
We are a not-for-profit GP worker co-operative and certified member of Co-operatives UK, serving approximately 8,200 patients in the eastern area of Dundee. As a Deep End practice, we care for a diverse population with significant health inequalities and complexity, but we are passionate about demonstrating that working in an area of high need can also provide an innovative, varied and professionally rewarding career in General Practice.
Our co-operative model is central to who we are. We place our patients, staff and community at the heart of the organisation, encouraging distributed leadership and giving eligible staff the opportunity to become members of the co-operative with associated staff benefits and the opportunity to contribute to the future direction of the practice.
Access is one of our key priorities. We have moved away from the traditional 8am appointment rush and duty-doctor model - operating a GP-led telephone access and triage system throughout the day. Our aim is to provide timely and personalised access for patients while creating a more sustainable way of working for our clinical team.
We are also an established undergraduate and postgraduate teaching practice with strong links to the University of Dundee. Our teaching commitments include year-long ScotGEM placements, Dundee medical students, FY2 doctors and GP Specialty Trainees. We have a dedicated Training Hub at The Crescent which provides additional clinical and teaching space and there are excellent opportunities for the successful candidate to become involved in education and professional development.
Alongside traditional General Practice, Newfield provides a number of additional services which contribute to a genuinely varied working week. These include our comprehensive Drug Recovery Service, including opioid substitution treatment and on-site Buvidal administration; medical support to a local Women's Aid refuge; and the provision of nursing home care to local care homes.
