Job description
Overview

This is a permanent full-time role requiring flexibility to work Shifts. Year-on-year, as we continue to grow, we need to work as smart as we can, to keep all our team members safe, fulfilled, motivated and empowered. We are seeking a driven Health & Safety Technician to help drive health and safety culture in one of our Sortation Centres (SCs). Our Sortation Centres are the link in Amazon's rapidly growing business: they manage our fast-moving shipments across the world. In this crucial health and safety position, you will report to the Health & Safety Manager as part of an evening/night shift, shift-based role.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake risk assessments as required, while proactively following up on control measures until complete
  • Complete daily metrics and callouts
  • Take a Deep Dive into Sort Centre data, monitoring recordable incidents on-site
  • Leverage auditor-level knowledge of Amazon's procedures and legal requirements to advise associates and managers accordingly
  • Become a subject matter expert in your Health and Safety competence, while remaining vigilant and not disclosing sensitive information
  • Consistently monitor the Sortation Centre, ensuring compliance with Amazon's safety procedures
  • Investigate accidents, near misses and incidents, and establish root causes
  • Update internal records regarding incidents, near misses and accidents
  • Undertake action plans to ensure ongoing compliance with legislation
  • Conduct yourself professionally, maintaining confidentiality in safety investigations
  • Flexibility: cover non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, during peak periods
Basic Qualifications
  • Health and Safety NVQ Level 3 or NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Minimum Intermediate level of English (B2) in written and verbal English
  • Experience running metrics reports and analyzing data to identify problems and root causes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in logistics / operations / warehouse / customer-oriented environment
  • Demonstrable ability to learn quickly while adhering to new processes and procedures
  • Willingness to change, adapt and innovate within the business
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, at times under minimal supervision, and to organize and prioritize time to meet targets and deadlines
  • Ability to work at all levels, coaching and mentoring others to work safely
